Great write up but, from one of the poor souls who have been there every week I've watched worse. Watford away this year was the most blood chilling 90 minutes of my life. That was scrappy and shapeless but at least eventually exciting and for a moment hopeful. We live to die again. |

My best footballing mate was a magical man called Rob Partridge, head of press at Island records. Originally from Plymouth he moved opposite the Crown and Sceptre in the 70's and did what we all say is sacrilege and changed allegiances to the R's. Became a fanatic, we went home and away together in his BMW with the best music playing. When we first played Plymouth after many years I saw him go through emotional turmoil, but he rooted for the hoops. He died of cancer years back. I will think of him tonight. Born green but died blue and white. Loved that man. |

As ever Clive a fantastic report, brilliant writing, but of course wholly wrong. That was the biggest abomination of a football match I've ever watched. Like British Bulldog on speed, incoherent and unwatchable, with rush goaly, hoofball, head ping pong and time wasting, gave me a headache and a deep depression. if that is what you have to do to win. And we were rubbish |

Wonderful writing as ever. I would love to have been there, even if it involved being abused by some of the more charming locals on the forced march back to the station. That would have been a grand train journey home to civilisation. |
