We look outclassed at the moment. Ramsdale looks good. Made a couple of decent saves already. If we continue to play in Martin's style we're going down. It's way too chancey.

Pretty much a full team to start. Stephens and Taylor playing. Stephens between the defence and midfield. AA centre forward. Edozie and Aribo wide.

First half thought Dibling and Sam Amo played well and looked promising. Lis looked OK overall as back -up. Charles looked reasonable in the middle. Charley flattered to deceive - looks like he needs a lot more match time. Second half: Sulemana showed he could be a handful for any defence in the Prem ( with such an electric turn of pace) if we can integrate him effectively. Indeed the forward line of Sulemana, Armstrong and Stewart ( if he can actually get some injury free match time) could help keep us in the Prem. Smallbone came on displaying a more physical version so might fit nicely with Downes in the centre of the midfield. Boot looked pretty good at centre back. Sugawara is class and will be a Saints favourite this year.

The honeymoon of optimism is over, all hail the predictable trudge of cynicism and doom. But hey that's part of the fun ( and anxiety) of being a fan - especially a Southampton FC fan - especially in recent years. Initial action doesn't augur well - an elderly ( in football terms) Brighton disguard returning; a Brentford disguard on the near horizon and a potential capable midfielder being sold off and the disappearance of a proven loan signing midfielder. All this slightly counterbalanced by the immediate signing of a centre half but in no way balancing out all of the above.
Nobody's brave enough to say it yet but but this all smacks of us plummeting back into the Championship. Let's hope that the management of the club are just mucking about at the moment!

Looks like it's worked for the last few weeks despite Mara and Stephens decisions. Fraser and Brooks were terrific last night. McCarthy instead of Baz was a bit of luck though I feel.
