I took my two grandsons to Ipswich today and my god Sheffield Wednesday were so, so, bad. They completely gave up just after half time. Ipswich were good but not outstanding but were far too good for them. They must go down with Rotherham so one place up for grabs. |

Can I please respectfully ask if any of our members have been unfortunate to know anyone who has had/or still have one of these products sold by Barclays or BOS? |

Noticed last night that Josh Bowler played and scored last night for Blackpool. How the hell is he back playing for them? Sold (like every other player) to Forrest and was never ever going to play for them. Went out to a shite team in Greece, never played and now back playing or Blackpool. How the hell is that right?? We talk about fair play, nothing fair about that - or am I missing something??? |
| Forum Thread | Letting Agents - Is it just me?? at 17:25 17 Jan 2023
I did not chose to be in this position but a few years after my dad passed away my mum was unable to live on her own. We got lucky and managed to get her in to a residential home closer to me but the rent she has to pay is almost three times her pension. So I stood guarantor for her and assist her financially. We had no real choice (there is a reason) but to rent out her house which makes up some of the monthly shortfall. So for three years now the letting agents have done nothing, they have only one carried out an inspection and that is only because I kept on and on at them. Any work they have arranged to do in the property is total crap workmanship and whenever I complain there is alway an excuse but strange because it is always someone else's fault. I am lucky because I have a good tenant who pays their rent on time and are a nice family. We all know there are good tenants and bad tenants along with good and bad landlords. I strive to be a good landlord but this is fast becoming a bloody nightmare. The reason for using a letting agent is simple, I am away a lot (we have a holiday place in Spain) and I do not want the tenant ringing me up with a problem that I am unable to resolve quickly. One thing though they never have a problem taking my mum's money every month!!! I was recommended to another agent so I called them, had a good chat and said all the right things. They said they would e-mail me some information fees etc - that was almost a week ago. I am buggered if I am going to keep calling them - why do these people not run a good business? Just as a final comment - should anyone of us elder members think or know anyone who is thinking of taking equity out of their property please, please, please DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. |
| Forum Thread | Is it just me? . . . . . at 16:26 1 Jul 2022
Currently enjoying a months holiday in Spain, now I am not in the Costa del Sol but am in a fairly exclusive part of the Costa Blanca. Although very few I have seen a few older men (50 upwards) walking about in football shirts. Now, I love my team as much as anyone else but to me a older man walking about in a football shirt on holiday just does not do it for me. Perhaps I am getting too old but would be interested in what some of the younger people views might be, I guess the opposite to me. Having said all that about 6 years ago I met a guy in a supermarket who was wearing a nice top with a very small QPR logo on and we did have quite a long conversation and he actually lived near me in Essex. So far it has been West Ham, Leeds, Notts Forrest and Man City shirts. Do me a favour guys leave them at home and wear them with pride on match days!!!! |
| Forum Thread | Blackpool Hatrick - Match Thread at 09:40 23 Feb 2022
Good morning everyone - I am hoping my midas touch can continue tonight. Started two previous match threads which both ended in wins (against the odds when we were in poor form) so hoping to complete three victories in what, in my opinion is a game we really need to win. This will be a tough, tight match and will be happy with a scrappy 1-0 or a lucky 2-1 Come on boys we can do it and icing on the cake is for Charlie to get the winner!!!! |
| Forum Thread | Spuds Ground at 08:30 7 Feb 2022
On Saturday went to the new Spuds ground - treat for my lads who have a special birthday, booked the Stratus lounge with drinks, food and great seats. Have to say I was totally blown away with the stadium it is fantastic and now I understand why the budget and build time went pear shape. Only issue for me is the surrounding area which without being disrespectful is not great. In my view it is well worth a trip just to see a totally brilliant stadium. PS Brighton were awful |

Yes - still around just not posted very much recently. Very happy to step up and start this thread and hope it will change our luck. Tough game this and although Cardiff have been pants recently they will take heart from the weekends comeback. Stop Moore scoring and we have a good chance - so I am going for a hard fought win but it will be close. 1-2 with Charlie coming good. yachi da - eveyone |
| Forum Thread | Luton Vans - Match Thread at 10:22 11 Jan 2021
Never had the confidence to start a match thread, going early and hoping first time lucky!! The obvious questions - will Charlie start? will he be used as an impact sub and can we keep a clean sheet? I really, really hope and pray that bringing him back works out for both sides. There are two Charlie Austins - the one we took on, burning desire to do well, worked very hard for the team, played on even though he was in a lot of pain and gave everything to every game. The other, unfortunately, (if you read and believe the reports) is someone who lost his desire, had his head turned, went off the rails, put on a load of timber and is not, and will never be the same man or player he was in the past. Could go either way, but I hope for both the club and his sake it goes well for him and I wish him all the very best of luck. I am going for a 1-2 win - and after being awarded a penalty Charlie picks up the ball and gives it to Dykes who slams it into the back of the net to win us the match. They embrace and it is the start of a beautiful partnership. |
| Forum Thread | Is it just me or . . . . at 15:45 7 Dec 2020
. . . . are we becoming more like the USA? Been to the USA quite a few times and it always struck me of a country of 'have's' and 'have not's'. If you are a 'have' then you can have a very comfortable life style but if you are not, then it is a tough place to live. With this pandemic unfortunately many people have lost their jobs or had to take a pay cut and this is going to have a big impact on their lives. It is fine taking mortgage breaks or borrowing money to keep a business going but at some point the money has to be paid back. On the other hand, many people are able to work from home, kept their jobs and with no fares to pay, in many cases they are better off. Just wanted to say how sorry I am for people like Disco who have had a double hit and any other posters on this site who have had to take a hit. Also a big shout out to anyone who has lost a loved one to COVID-19 my thoughts are with each and everyone of you. |
| Forum Thread | BBC News at 09:36 15 May 2020
I watched the 10 o'clock BBC News last night and towards the end there was a story about two young people who have terminal cancer, one male and the other female. The male - Shaun - was obviously a QPR fan sitting there proudly in his QPR top talking about how COVID-19 had interrupted his treatment and how that will impact on his life expectancy. He had just become a father and his one wish was to take his son to his first football match. Neither Shaun or the young lady were looking for sympathy but simply told the reporter how difficult things are now. Not sure if Shaun reads Loft for Words or if anyone on here knows him - if you do Shaun or anyone knows him please can you wish him the very best from me and I am sure everyone else on this forum. |
| Forum Thread | There are some real horrible bastards about . . at 18:07 19 Dec 2019
Got a call late on Monday evening from a friend who lives opposite my Mum. She had been burgled. They got over the back fence (using dustbins to help them) got in the back door (which my Mum had left unlocked) ransacked the bedrooms and stole her handbag which was by her feet she slept in her armchair. Fortunately she was not woken by them and only realised what had happend when she went upstairs to bed. My Mum is close on 94 years old, frail and has never hurt anyone in her life. This for her is life changing as she will never go back to her house that she has lived in for the past 60 years. Happy Christmas to those bastards and if I could have one Christmas present it would be that my Mum does not have to live in fear for the rest of her life. |
| Forum Thread | Funny things you have seen at a football match at 18:18 21 Oct 2019
I took my grandson to watch our local team on Saturday afternoon - I used to be very involved with them in the past and was chairman of the youth football teams for quite a few years so obviously I know quite a few people at the club. Anyway the first team are doing much better this year after three years of total dross - on Saturday the game kicked off and after about half an hour the ball went in the air and was contested by one of our team and one the the opposition. Their player came off worse and was on the floor - we noticed something on the ground and assumed it was a bit of turf that had been ripped up but no it was not - his wig had come off and was on the ground next to him. He tried to get it back on but this was not an easy job - we were pissing ourselves and even his team mates could see the funny side and were trying very hard not to laugh. Wiggy as we then called him, did not come out for the second half which was a pity |
| Forum Thread | Just asking like . . . at 10:59 25 Aug 2019
With such a big turnover of players in and out before the close of the transfer window do you think MW is still searching for his best team/formation? It is great that we have competition for each position with a mixture of both youth and experience but that can give other problems. Lets not forget we are still very early in the season with some players not yet fully fit or have an understanding of playing with each other. We need to be patient and I am sure given time the team/formation will sort itself out. |
| Forum Thread | Pot of Gold or in the shite at 10:19 27 Feb 2019
The top of the table is looking very tight so given that who would you like to see get the pot of gold and a try in the premier league and who do you want to stay and be in the shite with the ffp? For me I would have no problem with Sheffield United and Bristol City going up but I really, really cannot decide on the third team. What I do know is I really do not want the following teams to be promoted - in no particular order:- Aston Villa Leeds Aston Villa Derby Aston Villa Trees Aston Villa Leeds Aston Villa Middlesborough Aston Villa Norwich oh and ASTON VILLA |

Looking to go to watch Real Madrid in February and want to purchase tickets. Has anyone had any experience in purchasing tickets through an agency? Lots of places that have bad reputations - want to purchase approximately 10 tickets. Any advice would be most appreciated. |
| Forum Thread | Thank you at 12:04 3 May 2018
So as the season comes to an end I would like to say thank you to a few people:- Thank you to Ollie - have not always agreed with his team selections etc but he has done exactly what we wanted this season, kept us up, had some good games and usually had a smile on his face. Thank you to Sir Les, Lee Hoos and all the backroom staff for their efforts this year - was proud of what the club did for Stan Bowles and especially what they did to remember Grenfill tower fire. Thank you to Antti for his Knee Jerks - always a good read. Thank you to Dave B - the voice of reason. Thank you to Brian M for match day reporting and for being such a nice bloke!!! Thank you to Disco - for simply being Disco. Thank you to all you QPR supporters who follow our great club through good and bad. Hope you all have a great summer break and enjoy your holidays. |

This came about whilst reading the Mark Hughes sacking thread and got me thinking about people you absolutely HATE and if you had three or four choices who would they be? Happy to kick this off:- 1 Tony Blair 2 Mark Hughes 3 Donald Trump Keeping one more up my sleeve as I am sure you guys will remind me of someone I had forgotten or not thought about!!! |
| Forum Thread | Charlie at 17:15 15 Oct 2017
Southampton have not scored in 8 of their last home games yet Charlie Austin never gets a start. How the hell they think Long is a better forward than him I really do not know. Charlie always struck me as being a journeyman player someone who was grateful for the opportunity to play football at a high level. What a complete waste that the hardly plays nowadays when his career is not exactly at the start. Mind you one hundred large a week probably helps. Sad in my opinion. |
