Yet again, nobody between the pen spot and edge of the area at a corner. This is a shocking occurrence that has been repeated in several games, and been punished by conceding a goals. Why don’t we do this? It is basics. Am I just out of date or something?
Last season, Burnley conceded 35 goals, this season, so far, 74. Sheffield Utd, 39 vs 100 Luton 39 vs 78
This season, Leicester conceded 41 goals, vs 69 last year in the PL Leeds 43 vs 78 Southampton 63 vs 73.
If we win the playoffs, our defence, which is clearly far inferior to the rubbish one we had in the PL is going to be an excruciating watch. We are in no way prepared for the PL, and under this manager, will never be.
I have just had a reminder from Faceache, 4 years ago, at the beginning of Covid, the club was calling all over 65s to make sure they were OK. I can’t imagine that happening now. Not after the way they ignored the recent passing of a significant player for the club.
Yep, you knew you were breaking the rules, but carried on anyway, then put profit before compliance. If you don’t like the rules, ferk right off. No sympathy from me.
“ The club missed out on the signings of Cody Gakpo, Goncalo Ramos and Nicolas Jackson to name a few who have gone on to make high-profile moves.
With Joel Piroe not considered a serious option – likely due to finances without the sale of Che Adams – Saints settled on Ross Stewart to bolster the ranks.”
Does Alfie House recollect that we realised over a Hundred million pounds in player sales over the summer?
Looks like they have been studying Southampton defensive strategies and tactics. FBs going missing, CBs ignoring opposition players in the penalty area, even if there are only one or two. We are through to the knockout stages, but I don’t think we’ll last long against a side that can hit the target.
I usually only make a list when I am working on a project, planning the order of things, what to buy and when. I have a friend of 44 years standing who has a list of people that has irritated or crossed them over the years. In the event of becoming Supreme Being, they would not exist. This, of course is a bit like the song in “The Mikado” which is always hilarious to listen to with current events included. This link, whilst a few years old still has a couple of useful political references.
After the Brentford game, I returned home despondent, but after a day or two, and the subsequent Spurs game felt life was getting better. But then, on Monday night, I was hit with fever, nightmares and extreme muscle pain all over. The Ague I think they used to call it. Yep, after 3 years, I had finally succumbed to Covid19.
On another forum, not footy related, I very nearly referred to it as C. But then I remembered that the Big C was something altogether a lot nastier. Maybe covid should be little c. That got me thinking about Conservative and conservative.
Then I remembered, the C-word is a completely different word altogether, now that it has sprung into media usage. As it happened, Boris was up before the Parliamentary Privelidges Committee on Wednesday. Being laid low with c, I took the opportunity to watch the event in which the C was centre stage. And C he surely is, as well as Conservative. The intervening vote on the Windsor Plan has hopefully put paid to the ERG, (a complete bunch of Cs), for good.
And what of the Conservative Matt Hancock and the revelations he blithely gave away. Do I consider him a C? Is he big and influential enough to be a C? Or even a lesser c? Whilst I know the two words refer to the same thing, I think Tw@t is all he deserves for posterity.
All this put me in mind of a startling revelation about Cs made by a friend when we were forced to study Shakespear’s Twelfth Night when we were 15 years old.
“By my life, this is my lady's hand: these be her very C's, her U's, and her T's; and thus makes she her great P's.”
C U ‘n T Haha, suddenly it became much more interesting. It’s a pity that his filthy innuendos are not taught as part of the curriculum. You can probably tell, I am bored to distraction, drugged up with legal remedies, and not wanting to share my medical blemish with others, much like the Clap, oh no another C.
Last weekend, I was hoping to get at least one point from these games. I was expecting it to come from Brentford, but there you go. Plenty of effort today, and losing both CBS so early was a blow. Walcott was my MOTM. At last, a performance from him rather than the plodding going through the motions. I hope to see one or two more as his swan song.
They seemed to concentrate moving the ball from deep left to the right wing a lot. Perraud was exposed quite badly by lack of support by Elyounousi, though he did manage to cover if they attacked down our left flank rather than cross field.
