Swansea City is delighted to announce a new era for the club, having received EFL approval today for a change to the club's majority ownership.

I can't help but think that mentioning this "Ā£20m investment" was a bad idea. There will be those who now expect us to dash out and spend millions in January, when realistically that kind of cash will just about keep the lights on for a season or two.

Still, an end to the fractious relationship between supporters and owners is obviously a good thing. Down to Coleman and Co to deliver a club structure that looks like it knows what it's doing.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Totally agree Doc......many will think the Ā£20M is there to spend on players but as you say will be much needed to keep the club going ...especially with the reduction in gate revenue

That's a bit disingenuous to Swans fans, the report does say the money will go towards operating costs so I suspect they will work out that it won't go towards buying players in the short term.

Does replacing players come under operating costs. Unlike capital expenditure, which I would say was stadium expansion ect.

Anyway I'm just pleased they are gone and the process was a reasonably swift one.

some will some won't FB I've already heard some fans speculating on which players we should acquire either the Ā£20m.
My only hope is this new ownership gets a fair chance by the fan base.....but I expect there will he some quibbling at the end of January when we haven't been seen to splash that cash

There are an awful lot of people out there who have never truly understood how expensive it is to run a Championship football club.

For example, at the absolute maximum our total revenue from gate receipts is about Ā£4-5m a season, yet window after window the ceaseless calls for "investment and ambition" begin. We must be averaging at least Ā£10m a year in subsidy from ownership since Covid.

It also states enable strategic investments in the first team which could mean getting new players but I and I'd say quite a few jacks would hope that it will be used to try and get our centre halves to sign new contracts.

What is it about social media that people think they are entitled to an opinion on something they have not even taken the time to read properly; not a lot of words to get through!!

Ā£20 million into the club. This new funding provides the club an important foundation of stability, will cover the operating costs of the club for the foreseeable future, and enable strategic investments in the first team.

Give me strength.

I have never felt this positive for a long time and I'm sure they will get a fair crack of the whip from most jacks.

Looking through the profiles of the new blood our chairman seems to have surrounded himself with some young, successful and dynamic characters - so much work must have been done behind the scenes to pull it all together. I have the utmost respect for AC assembling an executive team that should give us confidence for a steady future.

everyone has opinions......and strategic investment in the first team doesn't necessarily mean new player acquisition......it covers consolidation of contracts....ie Cabango and Darling and perhaps the restoration of a cat1 academy......yet still some fans think there is Ā£20M to spalsh

Have said before that restoring the Academy to Cat 1 status is probably the smartest move they could make IF the plan involves ongoing investment, at least in the short term. I believe the costs of doing so can be deducted from any P&S calculations.

The same here Nanty, i will doff my cap and apologise for my initial opinion of him, it looks like he was here to suss out the lie of the land for the prospective investors.

I'm hoping this is the start of something good.

Swansea with past recruitment people can turn Ā£20m into dust very easily. Ā£15m for a liga 1 hotshot Borja Baston who did not impress any Swansea manager and struggled in the championship. I saw one magical 15 min v Exeter in a friendly where I he immediately clicked with McBurnie. Then OMcB was gone.

Better to continues to bring in players like Franco and develop slowly.

Again, like some others, I totally agree with what Dr. Winston said about us adopting realistic expectations for any funds provided by the new directors.

The problem with announcing the Ā£20 million investment, is a percentage of fans will only read the headlines and assume those funds are immediately earmarked for new transfers.

I have to say though, I've been very optimistic, excited even, about the prospect of the club's 'take-over' (Thank you Keith and Indy crew for providing this news in advance).

No, just like many older posters, who have witnessed so many 'boom and bust' times over the decades (in my case since 1962) I don't expect a dramatic playing transformation...at least not yet.

However, I do believe their increased commitment and financial stability will in time bear fruit, with better sourced/quality signings. Those will invariably increase the likelihood of a challenge at the top end of the table. Then, crucially, the perception of the club being a progressive one, to agents and players will change for the better. Making Swansea City an attractive destination again, like it was previously under the 'Welsh ownership.'

As well as the financial potential though, what I also like about the 'new regime' are the numbers on the board. There will invariably be a business minded/professional consensus made with important decisions within the club. We won't be reliant on one or two men's whim's. It will be a professional structure from which Andy Coleman can make qualified decisions, to take us 'onwards and upwards.'

Reading the news about the official sanctioning of the new owners today, was a great way to start the weekend. Welcome to Swansea gentlemen, I wish you nothing but success.

Most of us have had our expectations beaten down to an extremely low level over recent seasons. Just filling the achingly obvious gaps in the squad and doing their utmost to get the centre backs tied down would suffice for a lot of us.

We need to be competitive wages wise too. Not with Leeds and Sheffield United, but with run of the mill championship clubs. I donā€™t think thatā€™s too much to ask.

No one realistic expects us to be spending huge amounts of transfer fees, but I accept we do have a number of unrealistic fans who will see the Ā£20m figure and get the wrong idea.

Hearing 14 million will be designated to general running and upkeep.

The new owners have to have a plan and I'm sure it's not to continue to run us at a loss so imo they'll want to make us more competitive and in doing so successful, this will take time so as many have said 20 million will have to be spent in the right areas and if that means not on player purchases immediately then so be it, I'm more confident in the new ownership than I could and was with the last lot. The future is looking brighter now than it has been for far too long.

Keith in my opinion it's not all about the money. It's about the approach, connecting with the supporters and having a tangible plan, get this right and we will move forward.
