Very good, but there are so many good guitarists, it's hard to pick the best. I would go for Blackmore and Jan Ackerman, but i'm a failed guitarist so what do I know

Seen him twice on Liverpool.
He’s there again next April.
He’s very very good and has a good show
Gig I’m really excited about is The Waterboys next May

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

This is the big question isn’t it! Who is the best guitarist in the world?

You’re right though, it depends on so many factors; style, composition, genre etc.

My genre is rock / heavy rock so it’s packed with talent. It’s easy to say people like Clapton, Page, Gilmore, Iommi , Hendrix and the like are up there, they most certainly are but there are many others who are overlooked in this competition.

I’m a great fan of Rory Gallagher, a master of the fret board. Alvin Lee, another great. Not forgetting Donald Roeser who I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live on a couple of occasions . But if I had to say who my all time favourite was and would be ranked at the top it’s Randy Rhoades. His passion was classical guitar which belied his rock looks and at the end of his last tour which was cut tragically by his death, he was going to study classical music in University. Taken far too young.

Others will come up with more I’ve not listed and maybe not even heard of but that’s my starter for 10.

It’s about taste
It’s not about ,or shouldn’t be about technical skill. If it were ,Ry Cooder would stand alone
BB King could play one note and you knew it was him.
This is because he had touch and you can’t teach or learn that . It is something born with you
And , ones to think of it, Ry has that too

An example of two greats with the late great David Lindsey

Warning. If this doesn’t grip you, then you have no soul

Good list.
I was thinking of pure rock/ blues music but yeah, technically Django was something though his recordings are often fuzzy
