Could agree more with him. Sick and tired of having the obligatory woman on a sports panel, just to tick the PC box.
What brought it home to me was watching a rugby World Cup match, and at half time there were 2 women on the pitch, reviewing the first half’s play.
How, with all due respect, would they know the forces involved when a fullback is trying to stop a 17 stone winger, running at full speed toward him?
When the England lionesses were playing you had 3 women on the TV panel, plus 1 woman commenting. Where’s the male balance there ?
Even if they are ex-players, there are completely different nuances, between the male physique and that of a woman, which come into effect no matter what sports they are taking part in.
It is totally down to the PC / woke brigade and their perceived entitlement to have their say in everything, even sports.

I disregard his twitter but his punditry is class.
I like his ripping into bad united losses makes me 😂

I don't rather someone doing a job if they are left or right or even up or down.
If this debate was about champagne socialist him and linker would be champions.
Doesn't mean I don't respect a champions league winners opinion on football.

You cant put a womens champions league winner and men champions league winner in the same bracket.

Its like saying any member of the spain womens team are now all as good pele or messi....

I would much prefer Roy Keane he doesn't tiptoe through the tulips, he would go out of his way to step on every one, just ask Gary.😉

To quote the original obviously sexist and bigoted post.

"How, with all due respect, would they know the forces involved when a fullback is trying to stop a 17 stone winger, running at full speed toward him?"

Because they probably have been in that exact position, more times than most people watching at home.

It might be a 12 stone winger and a 10 stone full back but the it's the same.

I do find the tokenism patronising, but this is just a sexist rant. Give me Maggie Alphonso over Gareth Thomas anyday.

Oh feck, now you've done it. I agree with some if not all your points. Positive discrimination is still discrimination. There's a place for both, but there definite shoe horning of women into male football and rugby analysis. The woke brigade are currently at their zenith and need to be met with common sense and non biased debate.
I rarely watch any women's football, don't watch much football at all these days that aren't Swans related, do they have male analysts on the women's football shows, serious question.

Any answer to the last paragraph?

Yes. The commentary team at the women’s World Cup for example was usually one male and one female and the pundits/analysts included Michael Owen, Jonas (can’t remember his second name) and Scott Booth.

Still very weighted to females but more than Soccer Saturday or Monday Night Football.

Of course it's not like saying a Spanish women's world cup winner is like Messi.

A women's champions league winner is in a comparable bracket as a man's champions league winner. But they're different brackets.

Christ alive.

Believe it or not women watch football nowadays, it's not woke it's life.

Surely if this argument had any weight the only worthy pundit would be a man who'd won everything there is to win and his opinion couldn't be challenged because nobody else was worthy?

Who would that leave us with?

Wall to wall football in our house on any given Sunday during the season of course, gets on my chuff, but Mrs loves football she'd genuinely watch it all day.
