tRAMsfer news: Clough Returning To Forest For Midfielder Moussi? Tuesday, 5th Jul 2011 13:26 by Daniel J Sewart
First the Rams landed a Forest player who no longer wanted to live amongst the trees - and now if you believe ‘The Mirror’ (which you seldom should) - it seems Nigel is now attempting to steal another from our foe.
Making A Move For Moussi?
Like Nathan Tyson, midfielder Guy Moussi is available on a free transfer if he chooses to move on from Nottingham. The Rams arch-rivals have offered their highly-coveted playmaker a new contract, but with the help of Tyson may also decide to make the switch to Pride Park.
Rumours have linked the players with other clubs including the top flight with David Moyes reportedly interested in taking him to Everton, but if he stays in the Championship, the Rams may be firming as favourite to swoop for his signature.
At the age of 26, French-born Moussi has had a few issues with injury in recent years but has still managed 74 matches, scoring 3 goals. Without doubt, since signing for Forest in 2008 he has grown to become an integral part of the Forest midfield.
It was his form that helped propel the Trees to the upper echelons of the table and in turn the club's decline in form coincided with his injury issues.
If the talk of a Premier League move comes to nothing, with the positivity the Rams are displaying in the transfer market along with them signing one of his former team mates and friends in Tyson, perhaps Clough can pull off a coup to fill the central midfield position left vacant by the retirement of Robbie Savage.
Considering there will be no fee required for the player, then Derby could channel available funds into a suitable wage offer for Moussi. With Varney (along with other players) expected to be shipped out soon to trim Derby's wages costs, it may be an attractive option for Moussi.
You can very rarely rely on much of what you read in ‘The Mirror’ but every now and again they get it right, in this case, I hope they have.
Forest fans may think otherwise.

Ross Atkins:
Nigel Clough is looking around for a club that the young keeper can join on a season-long loan.
"We want Ross to go out and get some experience on loan again. In the last six months or so he has really come on and you can see he really benefited from the loan spells he has had in the Blue Square Premier.”
"He deserved his start at Reading on the final day of last season and we think he is now ready for a season in the Football League. Hopefully we can get him out at a League Two side for the season, or half a season to start with."
Luke Varney:
Media reports suggest the transfer to Pompey is done and dusted and will be announced very soon. Mind you I think media have been reporting that for over a week - so who knows?
Chris Maguire:
The Rams' new striker is hoping to produce form that will force Scottish manager Scott Levein to keep him in his calculations for international duty:
"Hopefully, he'll come and watch me playing for Derby and I can get myself in the national side again. I'm pleased to have been capped by the national side at 22 and I'm looking forward to getting more under my belt."

Really? hmmmmmm I would be amazed if this had even a scrap of truth in it. lol

You'd also be a bit pig-sick if Moussi and the other contract rebel departed, yes? Earnshaw is a contract-jockey, his loyalty is to his Hummer collection!
ConnexIV added 20:45 - Jul 5
It looks likely they will both depart. If the Moose goes to a team in our League, especially you, then yes I will be a bit hacked off. If he goes to the prem... so be it. Earnie loves it at the CG but has potentially one move left in him. If we sign Maynard or another quality striker, I will be less bothered about him going.
pkay_brum added 01:36 - Jul 6
Earnie followed Billy to the CG; if he *really* loved it there, perhaps he'd have settled the manager's nerves by now. Steve Mac might want a different kind of player, too. Maynard cost Bristol City £2.25m in 2008 and his value has gone up. Leicester want him....would Doughty stump up £3-4m for only one player at this point, when he's not receiving fees for departees?

You can rest it as much as you like. Earnshaw did not follow Davies to Forest. Calderwood signed him in 2008.... get your facts right before gobbing off. He has signed for his boyhood club for possibly the last big move of his career. I can forgive him for that. Especially if he has made room for another quality signing up front. Earnie really seemed to love it at the CG, and loved living in Nottingham on the whole. It was made even sweeter for him because of the connection between direby and ourselves as well.

Insulting tone, Connex tut tut - you're very touchy, no doubt because it seems many of Forest's 'stars' are deserting! Calderwood was sacked six months after Earn-sure signed, so no doubt Earn-sure elected to stay when Wee Billy touched down. At least we got £2.65m back for him from the Trees, he repaid that back to F*rest as he rediscovered his goal touch in Gun City. Neither of us want him to succeed at Cardiff at the expense of our chances! Yes, exciting times at the City Ground re signings....ohhh wait, what strikers? Lardy-boy Reid has returned; that's about your lot so far....

Im surprised you haven't taken down my post claiming it was in some way offensive and that I used bad language in it.... Earnie and Billy didn't get on. So i reckon he stayed because of the 3 year contract he signed. Wait out for further RELEVANT signings, that will make an impact at this level.
pkay_brum added 18:57 - Jul 7
But Earnie "loved it" at Nothingham, didn't he? Make yer mind up, sugarpuff! NB: this is a Derby MB, so we're only waiting for RELEVANT signings at PPS, you might remember. We really don't care who Forest might sign - but we don't mind nicking the odd player or two that have had enough of Gun City ;-)
pkay_brum added 21:40 - Jul 7
'Sugarpuff'? Yes - you're so fluffy when riled! All just trifling desperation from you, tree-trunk - in case you didn't notice, the Rams have signed several other clubs' PoTYs, captains, etc - all *relevant* to strengthening the weak areas of the squad (i.e., every department of the team!) Shackell was wanted by several clubs (as were Derby's other signings) and is an imposing defender, a very relevant replacement to the inconsistent/injury-prone partners for Shaun Barker; Bryson and Maguire have plenty of potential and are achievers. Ward scored as many goals as Luke Varney in a fraction of the games, Robinson is a speed merchant needing some focus. Tyson you probably know all about and provides pace and penetration, on a free - thanks! The sale of Luke Varney paid for the new Scots, relevant business. The goalkeepers? One's the England U-21 No 1, the other a fast-rising PoTY (again!) so what's you're point about your adjudgd irrelevance of Derby's signings. Stop digging, you're in a big hole and the surface is fast disappearing!

hahaha. Do me a favour. Your factual inaccuracy's and pointless ramblings about Earnie are exposed for all to see. Desperation.... pah. Since you have stated your optimistic and hopeful view above, allow me to sate the glaring reality of your new signings. Shackel is a good signing, certainly average for the championship. Ty's is a good player, not a goal scorer but can cause anyone problems on his day. Fielding is unproven... I have never even heard of the other one. Bryson and Maguire? Did you get them from L2? I genuinely don't know.... Unproven. Robinson... Rabbit in headlights Ward.... not even bothering to comment. All in all quantity, not quality. Wrap all this up with an inept manager who is out of his depth tactically and from what I saw last season,in his man management skills, and it all adds up to another amusing episode from the sheep dip next season.

pkay.... I love your manner, you make me happy :)

Connex - you seem pretty ignorant in the context of transfer occurences and your observations amount to little more than spamming the site. Your hole just got even deeper, so quit while you are behind. My comments on the Ram's signings are factual; go check them out. I didn't even mention lardy-boy Reid's current injury and appearance record, out of sympathy! If you are going to make fatuous comments on Derby signings without even knowing their history or career achievements, naff off to the dormant Tree MBs and try and generate some interest there. You deserve each other. There is no such thing as 'glaring reality' in your shallow opinions of players you clearly know nothing of; when the ball is kicked, we will all find out. We are *really* looking forward to the 'local derby' clashes with the Trees next season and then we can compare reality to opinion, sugarpuff.

Earnshaw (Why I left F*rest): "The new manager wanted me to stay but it was too little, too late almost because Cardiff had pulled out all of the stops to get me." Translation: he's a contract-jockey. He followed the most money, and went to Cardiff! You lost your top scorer.....so did Derby (Hulse & Commons) but we did rake in £1m for them, during the last year of their contracts. We have a fair few forwards in Ward, Robinson, Bryson, Maguire, Davies, Cywka and still need a centre-forward...and a schemer..and a left-back...most are happy so far with the squad reinforcements, more to follow.

Tut tut.... put your dummy back in, sit yourself down and take a deep breath. There is no need to get so defensive. If I was the type to trawl through your spelling and grammar I'm sure I would find some errors.... however I find this pointless and believe it detracts from the whole discussion. However apologies.... you can score your little pointy woint. *woint is not an actual word. You have indeed quoted accurately, however, as I suspect is usual you have neglected to recognise the gist of the whole piece. He left because we didn't seem at all bothered if he stayed or went, same as with Ty's, an error in my opinion. He also found it hard to resist the lure of his home town club, totally understandable, but the fact remains, they BOTH loved there time at the CG. It will interesting to see if they celebrate when and if either of them score against us. The general opinion amongst fans of other clubs, not just Forest, is that direby are generally buying players that might, one day, be good at this level. Yes they are cheap, however there is a reason for that, they are generally untested. They may be really, really good when slotted into your first team.... then again, they may not. I guess we shall see. By the way Andy Reid is looking good in pre season fitness wise. Many of us were dubious, however it looks like we were a little quick to doubt him. If my answers to your comments upset you pkay, please don't post points for consideration. Especially ones directed to me. Does that make sense? And remember... its only a bit of banter :)

**Status bulletin** Confirm am not upset, just amused STOP Advise not acceptable for sugarpuff to tell anyone: 'don't post points' - and suggest you go set up own website if you wish to proscribe the rules STOP As cited, proof of pudding is when ball is kicked on signings for either club STOP Accepted that Earn-Sure and Ty liked the CG in your opinion (they are but simple lads) but you still lost them both, no fee STOP Unable to assess veracity of report on Reid's fitness/body mass until fixtures commence STOP Unable to accept Tree-trunk's snap judgement of 'cheap', 'untested' Derby signings as per facts and career stats/achievements / captain and PoTY staus of previous clubs STOP *Bulletin ends**

Dammit! 'Taxi for pkay', please; he's lost his touch, Trees fans are agreeing with him....
ConnexIV added 22:03 - Jul 10
Its just funny, don't get exited. You have still signed players unproven at this level. Being poty and captain of a 2 bit SPL and/ or failed championship side, doesn't really prove anything at this level. And you state incorrect facts.
pkay_brum added 22:19 - Jul 10
I'm not 'exited', just amused ;-) You might find you respect those Rams players more as the season unfolds, sugarpuff. Taking players from so-called 'failure' sides or '2-bit' smaller clubs doesn't preclude players improving and shining...you could name current Trees' players that have done just that, so don't let bias or hipocrisy cloud your judgement. A fact is either correct or not - otherwise it's an inaccuracy or misinformation; i.e., non-factual. You are merely offering a difference of opinion, or engaging in banter or automatic gain-saying opposition, presumably for your self-amusement (abuse?) Just not t' same as 'fact', mi owd.
ConnexIV added 22:47 - Jul 10
You claim that Earnie followed Billy, you claimed it as fact... Wrong You claim Earnie was our top scorer.... Wrong These are the facts that are incorrect. You should really pay more attention before you make yourself look foolish. I believe that earlier in the thread I said that they may be really, really good signings, however they may not be. Please read back thread before posting comments, or just quit posting on this subject.

Repetitive drivel - and quit telling people to stop posting! You just wish you'd got some signings to talk about, I know - apart from the desperate lardy-boy. Looks like Agent Mac has already squandered Moussi and Cohen as well, ehh?
ConnexIV added 20:48 - Jul 12
I think you will find my 'repetitive drivel' is factual though.... lol.
