Gerald Mortimer, former Derby Telegraph sports editor, match reporter and author of many definitive Derby County books has passed away, aged 77. Story & career overview here: http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Gerland-Mortimer-Derby-Telegraph-s-legend-sports Gerald was one of the great local media figures of my lifetime and, like many fans, I learnt much about football and Derby County through his match reports and, in his later years, his comprehensive works about DCFC. It was also my privilege to work with him on occasion through his support of club-related charity events - he would always give his forthright views about what was going on at the club. R.I.P. Gerald - you'll be much missed by all connected with Derby County and the city's media community. Perhaps DCFC can arrange a minute's applause or some form of tribute at tomorrow's match?
