That would mean never again in my lifetime would we have those green-eyed, unbelievably hypocritical (which 'socialists' aren't?) Labour politicians in power again due to losing Christ-knows how many Scottish mp's from parliament.

Whatever your political views, having 1 government in power without an effective or credible opposition, will never be a good thing. Whether it was the Tories in 1964 and 1997 or Labour in 2010, all 3 of those governments were well past their sell by date.

Why does Salmon want to put it off until 2014 if he's so desperate for independence? And why the third 'more money' clause to a straight Yes or No question? He's a fraud as far as I can tell.

He snuck that one in there in the hope of gaining more autonomy for Scotland whilst retaining funding from Westminster.
If he wants independence then the referendum should be a straight Yes or No choice. If they choose Yes then they should stand completely on their own 2 feet and give up all funding from London.

I went to uni in Scitland, lived there for a while and still have Scottish mates, so perhaps am a little less biased...
But i think it would be a bad thing for Scotland. they are hanging most of the idea of economic stability on North sea Oil. In other words a finite resource. I realise that they are discovering more opil and it could go one for another century or so, but in the meatime, the world is looking for alternatives to oil. Its a short-medium term arguement (albeit longer than any of our lifetimes).
Secondaly they would have to convert to the Euro, as thats one of the requirements to joining the EU these days.
What would happen to the RBS debt? (all joking aside)
As for the original point, giving the Tories the keys to an English parliament is NOT a good thing. In the same way that it would not be good if any other party was guaranteed victory. Change can be a good thing. Sometimes change is needed. A strong opposition keeps a government on its toes. Complacency is tantamount to stagnation.
The Scottish First Minister was being interviewed on C4 news last night. His economic argument was that Scotland should get 90% of North Sea oil revenues as 90% of it would fall within Scottish territorial waters, while they should not be exposed to all the Scottish bank debt as it was due to financial mismanagement by a London government and reckless London regulation. Couldn't see London agreeing to that in a million years. But the more that the Tories push against the referendum, the more popular secession will become in Scotland.

Anniversary of Bannockburn - 1314.their "success" against the bastard English and a bit of patriotic fervour.

That's the beautiful irony really, if the Scots go the Tories in theory should gain a large majority in England. However the break up of Great Britain under a Tory government would be a disaster for the party and could take generations to rebuild from.
Cameron is playing a dangerous game, his little nationalist policy in europe has made him popular again and on the surface his actions with Scotland will certainly do the same. However both could come back and bite him on the bum big time in the medium to long term

And who's going to fund this "Independence"?Oil and wind bonanzas - I think not.And what about the Barnett Formula?Let me guess, they'll want to keep that right? And they'll want to go into the Euro - if it still exists.....starting to look a real old dog's breakfast.
