Southend Match Thread 11:57 - Oct 17 with 20039 views | jonahwhereru | Although I live in Southend I haven’t seen them this season. The people I have spoken to tell me that they are really inconsistent, and lack height. The forward that went to FGR and the centre half they had to sack have really exacerbated the situation. However their weakness is also one of ours. In that we do not score many from corners. Ferguson and Beckwith are both big lads and I would be tempted to play both on Saturday, fitness allowing. We can beat them but will need to be on our metal as they can turn in a very good performance, like scoring 4 at Solihull. Travelling up for the game so I hope Dale turn up and graft, if they do I think they will win. [Post edited 17 Oct 12:11]

Agree DA For me even a win last sat would have failed to address the issue of the style by which we play...it certainly doesn't encourage me to buy another match day pass and for those who can attend it must be a tough call. Its not that we don't have the talent on the pitch to play more positively its that it appears to be coached out of them to do so. if this continues id expect some players to move on

I dont expect Halifax to sit in with 2 deep banks of 5 and a 4 so that could help our style.. if we can find a home style that the Manager players and supporters all identify with. I am going for a 7 goal thriller Dale 4-3 Fax.

Whilst it is a results business I tend to agree that the playing style must be improved especially at home. Nonetheless we are one year into a project and in the play offs. We have proved that we are capable of better performances and fully expect us to reach those standards more regularly. Also need cover for Kairo unless one of the fringe players can step up.

Wow, Halifax have the meanest Away defence in the National League, I hope a 7 goal thriller is on, but fear not.

We have a more than decent squad and the injury list should be a real chance for the players on the fringe to step up and cement their own place in the starting XI. When these fringe players get their chance they look really off the pace, restricted, frustrated and generally confused as to how to influence the game. One final example is East he is a magnificent player one of the best in the division when he is driving towards goal in the final 3rd. We are not getting any value when he is almost touching hands with the Centre half on his own 18 yard line. To finish on a positive I really did think Allarakhia was the one Dale player prepared to actually take on the Southend defenders and was our stand out shining light. We also looked more like Dale with the introduction of Henderson and McBride who sparked a little in the final 3rd. Anyway its a local Derby in 24 hours time I am really hoping we can take the game by the scruff of the neck and play like we all know we can. Up the Dale - I am going for a home win tomorrow to put the Saturday nightmare to bed. |
The demoralising thing about last Saturday was we should've been buzzing after the Fylde win yet we put in a performance like that - with Allarakhia having our only 2 shots on target! At home that is totally unacceptable.
