Thought the Lionesses were excellent. Sweden tried to rough it a bit at the start, but England just got better as the game went in. The first was well taken, but if Messi, Ronaldo or Neymar had scored that third, we’d never hear the end of it. Well done England.

She's great, but I wouldn't change it. One thing I noticed v Spain was that she was puffing by the end, I don't think she's got the stamina of Ellie White and as Alex Scott said after, she'll have much more impact coming on against a tiring defence than getting herself tired and being subbed on 60, because White won't have that same electric impact. That'll change of course, Russo is the future, but for now, Wiegman has it spot on. Of course she does, she's a genius!

Alex Scott extolling Emma Hayes 'intelligence' as she worked out Chelsea"s Swedish keeper was too old and past her best and needed to be replaced.

Women's Euros on 06:42 - Jul 27 with 1617 views | joe90 | As much as I want to get behind England I find the BBC coverage so awful and off putting. They cut to the Croydon box park to some very underwhelming celebrations. Why do it? Why try and replicate the hype that surrounds the mens game? Why not do something different, instead of this patronising coverage? To be honest, I’ve enjoyed watching the other nations play more than England. We’ve been handed this tournament on a plate. England have been miles better than the teams they’ve played, last night was no exception. The first goal was quality and Sweden basically collapsed after that. Nothing in the final third and subs too late on to change the game. The game was actually very sloppy second half and England just needed to do what England does best which is keep running and be physical. A typically dour and joyless approach to the game. I’ll be watching the Germany/France game with interest. Germany surely the favourites to go through?

What I find so good is that u like Southgate's England, Wiegman's England is full pace tempo There is none of this 24 passes before we cross the half way line. They play it quickly get it out wide and then get it in the box... simple Last night's destruction of Sweden was a simple case of in the end the Swedes were blowing out of their behinds due to England's tempo Might be a little simplistic to compare this with the mens game.... but love to see our lads play a similar type of game. Too late to get Wiegman in for Qatar?
Women's Euros on 07:37 - Jul 27 with 1513 views | dmm | Ian Wright's post match comments last night were interesting. He said this competition will have no legacy unless girls are allowed to play football in PE. I'm actually quite shocked as I assumed these days girls played any and all sports at school that boys play.

Just because men compete in women's sports, it doesn't mean that girls can play in boys sports.................... tin hat

Curious how England have been ‘handed this tournament on a plate’? They beat (thumped in fact!) the number two ranked team in the world last night having overcome a very strong Spain side in the quarter finals. The group stage was straightforward but that was largely due to a very impressive performance against Norway who are no mugs. They’ll have to beat France or Germany to win the tournament which is going to be a very tough game either way. So I don’t really see how England have been handed the tournament on a plate. It’s more a case of them grasping the opportunity with both hands. As for making Germany the favourites in tonight’s game… I wouldn’t bet against the French who despite having injuries to key players will have Delphine Cascarino who has been outstanding whenever I’ve seen her play. Looking forward to the game tonight!
