Point out the contradictions.

We were the better team, would have been criminal if we hadn't won.
You were happy to see Obi and Piroe playing together
Burns played well.
Then go on to say that Martin still got the formation wrong and the team and Martin made all the usual mistakes which suggests we were basically lucky to win ?
Anyway just enjoy the win is it ?
Stopped arguing with two on here, not going to start with you

"We were the better team, would have been criminal if we hadn't won."

Yes, we had the better players. They were shite, would have been criminal not to get the 3 points at home in such circumstances and yet we allowed them to take the lead...because of the formation, which seems designed to isolate our defenders and leave us open to counter attack every time we lose the ball unexpectedly in midfield on the front foot.

"You were happy to see Obi and Piroe playing together"

Yes, I was calling for it 2 months ago.
However, Piroe was played at AM...which does not play to his strengths. As soon as he was switched to leading the line late on we looked much more threatening and he scored. We now had somebody who can head the ball to cross too.
Obafemi should be the 2nd striker, using his pace to run the channels.

"Burns played well"

...what the hell do you mean, "contradiction"(!)

"Then go on to say that Martin still got the formation wrong and the team and Martin made all the usual mistakes which suggests we were basically lucky to win ?"

I've outlined a few things wrong with it above, I could go on but have provided enough explanation.
We weren't lucky, we were much the better team...yet we were vulnerable throughout. They missed a ton of chances, our keeper was a shit show that dropped us in the shite over and over again...all of our problems in that game were of our own makng.
Just because we won this time doesn't make the fundamental problems go away...

...and I did not contradict myself at all.

The question is, why can't happy clappers like you just enjoy the win instead of seeking an argument every time we get a result.
I just gave my thoughts on the game, you criticised them, I have done you the courtesy of explaining further (even though my first post was adequate).

The end.

Fair enough and comprehensive answer.
Thank you.
Just one small point though
If you read the " Quiet on here" thread you will see I did acknowledge it was a good win and without any criticism
Not "happy clapper"
Just criticise when I feel it is due and on the occasions when we get a deserved win, like yesterday, very happy thanks.

A brilliant assessment Sir.
It’s always good to win but we so give away goals when no need.
Our pitiful passing from keeper to full backs ad nausea is pointless .
We have the talent to kill teams yet this coach ,IMO,is nowhere near getting it right.
Piroe was messed about at the start of the season and even now Martin cannot see the need to feed this lad as he will score.
And yes Ovefemu has what we have lacked …pace…so use it

A win is always great but let s not all worship at the Russy Altar

I don’t know if it’s already been said, but starting Piroe as a midfielder yesterday was a big mistake yesterday, he’s a striker and doesn’t seem to be able to hold the ball in tight areas or be able to create for others, (Piroe) lost the ball which led to a be
izzles goal. I like Piroe as a striker but not as a midfielder , we were much better once Ncham came on and Piroe reverted to his striker role.

There were a few times where Christie had a go at him for not making that 20 yard run from his central(ish) position into the channel ahead, or dropping in behind. Piroe just wanted to stay within the width of the 18 yard box and normally that's exactly where we want him.

Why does Martin do this .
Why are players messed about.
Given service Piroe is lethal

All CF get asked and coached to drop off or drop into zones or positions . The thinking is that they drag CH out and therefore not easy to mark. A classic example is Kane. There are a few in this division who are a traditional CF like Mitrovic but even he has been moved around this season.

The Modern game eh, give me a couple of midfield dogs and a pair of fast wingers and overlapping FB with a CF who is good in the air and id be happy

We should have Piroe leading the line, the target man, and Obafemi playing off him, looking to go down either channel each side of him (If I had a pen and paper I'd put Obafemi deeper than Piroe a tad with arrows going in a horseshoe shape).
The lad with the pace needs to be getting slipped in by through balls and making himself a nuisance (Kyle Joseph could play this role as well, from what I've seen).

Piroe is a no. 9 all day long and should be first name on the team sheet, the focal point of our attack.
You don't have to be Brian Clough to work this one out, it's basics.

If he is going to play 3 at the back he needs at least one of the midfielders to be an anchor man, whose job it is to protect that defence. We've got Downes, Smith and Fulton who can all play this role, depending on what combinations we are going with in midfield.
I would encourage Grimes to get forward more and I like Wolff & Ntcham's attacking intent so if playing 3-5-2 I'd go with;

------------------ Hamer ---------------------
----------------- Cabango --------------------
----- Burns -------------------- Manning ---
Christie ------- Downes ---------- Ogbeta (please God let him be fit & competent)
---------- Grimes -------- Wolff -------------
----------------- Obafemi ---------------------
-------------------- Piroe -----------------------

Regularly brining on Patterson, Ntcham and Joseph to try and add attacking spark.

Without Ogbeta I'd go (in a 3-5-2);

------------------ Hamer ---------------------
----------------- Cabango --------------------
----- Burns ------------------ Naughton ---
Christie ------- Downes ---------- Manning
---------- Grimes -------- Wolff -------------
----------------- Obafemi ---------------------
-------------------- Piroe -----------------------

Bennett rotates in for Cabango
Ntcham rotates in for Wolff
Patterson rotates in for Obafemi
Latibeaudiere rotates in for Burns
Smith rotates in for Downes (or Wolff, allowing Downes to move forward, Smith playing as anchor)
Joseph is used as an impact player off the bench, always in the Obafemi role running the channels off Piroe.

At the moment our most important players, who mustn't get injured are;
Piroe, Grimes, Downes, Christie, Manning

If any of these go down we are significantly weakened.

The bristol City train on the way down was badly damaged, their escort was attacked before the game. As we know, these things if not immediate issues will be dealt with after identifying the offenders. That’s what people forget.

Mostly what has been described as Swansea youth. 😂
There seems to be an enormous amount of youngsters these days turning out in large numbers especially for both Cardiff and Swansea.
You know what’s it like when you are young.
Invincible, indestructible, and stupid.
No thought for the future.

I’m the first to admit, I was one of the lucky ones. When you are sixteen you don’t think about paying the bills for your Mrs and family. It’s only when you grow up ( a bit) you repent at your leisure.

But when we were young and stupid there’s wasn’t cctv all over the place and the amount of technology about now is off the scale. You will lose your Liberty. You didn’t in 1988. I guess they’ve got to learn the hard way…..like many cardiff and Chelsea fans did around the kings rd in 2010.

I loved them. Especially older ones whose husbands were on night in Neath at the Metal Box .

I know who you mean, in his 50’s, laughed in court as they sent him down. About 40 people went down for that. A few of ours got 5 or 10 yr bans too for trying to attack West Ham fans in an escort on penarth rd around 2003/4….it’s just not worth it for a show of bravado for 15 minutes.

I thought...

- we were the better team, it would have been criminal not to get the 3pts
- Obafemi and Piroe on the pitch at the same time works better
- At least 2 of the 3 goals came from playing more direct (hopefully we will learn from this)
- the Man City kid at the back, Burns(?), was excellent. Assured with the ball at his feet, calm and great in the air.
- The formation is still wrong, it ensures that we are in deep shite every time we lose the ball unexpectedly in midfield whilst building an attack.
- The keeper, Fisher, is possibly the worst signing we have ever made
- Martin still playing lads out of position
- Even though we were much the better team we could still have screwed that up, the team and Martin made all the usual mistakes.
- Good to win though.

We seemed to line up like this;

------------------ Fisher ---------------------
---------------- Cabango -------------------
----- Burns ---------------- Manning -----
Christie -- Downes -- Grimes -- Wolff
------------------------------------------------
---------- Piroe ------- Patterson ---------
---------------- Obafemi --------------------

When it would have made more sense to go;

------------------ Fisher ---------------------
---------------- Cabango -------------------
----- Burns ---------------- Manning -----
Christie -- Downes -- Grimes -- Wolff
------------------------------------------------
------- Obafemi ------- Patterson --------
------------------- Piroe ----------------------

...but we should really be playing something like;

------------------ Fisher ---------------------
--------- Burns -------- Cabango ---------
Christie -------------------------- Manning
---------------- Downes ---------------------
------- Grimes ------------ Wolff ----------
---------------- Patterson -------------------
-------Obafemi ---------- Piroe -----------

- The keeper, Fisher, is possibly the worst signing we have ever made

If we had Cooper's well organised defence in front of him he could look far better.

Having calamity Cabango there would give any keeper the horrors.

The baffling thing is that Martine has said how he has systematically reengineered our play - starting with our defence. Wtf ??

Yet our defence is such the gaping weakness, to this day, esp.
