Hang on? What about all our mistakes that fortunately only cost us one goal?

What about the uninspiring snails pace football?

Nooo, the first half wasn't good, we lost it to a distinctly average team and I did hear boos at the whistle.

The second half, that WAS good. it's not a bad thing to be honest mind, we are allowed to pint out when we think something wasn't good. As long as we are balanced about it, it's all good.

Disclaimer, it is quite possible that events at home can cloud your opinion. I came on here in a pretty foul mood the other day and was far more negative than normal. teenage kids eh, always a joy! I've had a bit of a time with him today, he gets more pocket money than all his friends but seems to think he deserves more

Yes of course you are I thought we played ok I am allowed to point that out as well.

Better side in both halves just my opinion.

Bristol were very poor but should have had a pen before we scored the 3rd.

Cardiff didn’t sell out by a lot.
There will be a walk up tomorrow, 20,173 😂

Close to that. If the club had sold tickets on the day it would have been well over that. Loads being turned away at the ticket office. Ridiculous from the club.

It’s crazy really.we don’t have the defenders with the footballing ability to play this passing around the box game - so the manager blows 400k on a keeper who may be better than Homer with his feet but ignore the real need which was for an O’Reilly type midfield player.

Grimes just gets in Downes’ way

We do, what we don’t have is a midfield who work to create space of passes.
Manning, Cabango and Fisher were getting frustrated in the first half with Piroe, Obi, Wolf, Peterson all standing in a line the other side of the half way line, Grimes and Downes holding hand and Chistie isolated.
Second half the midfield was less static and Piroe and Pererson were dropping back … result passing from the back improved .
3 - 1 and still the moaners more interested in slating the Swans rather than enjoying the scoreline.

Swansea won 3-1 and done the double on an alleged rival. For tonight I’ll settle for that.
Cooper couldn’t get it right. Martin has.

Our first double over Bristol City since the1957/58 season, Division 2 (Championship) 5-1 and 1-2.

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

This.

If we're going to pass it around the back then the midfield have to work harder to create the triangles to move the ball out. That isn't happening. To be honest any defender passing it into midfield stands a 50/50 chance of getting it straight back at the moment. Probably closer to 70/30 if it's Grimes that they pass to.

As it stands opposing teams know that all they have to do is not over commit and just pressure us a little into making a mistake, which we inevitably do three or four times a game.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yep good result regardless of performance. 3-1 win in this league will always be good, you know me I take whatever wins we can get and don’t care too much for anything else.

But we all expected to beat Bristol, they were one of the few teams in the league on worse points per game than us, we were odds on favourites and I would have been shocked if we lost it.

That being said these types of wins are good for morale, losing becomes a habit so Martin needs to knuckle down and start getting strings of results. This is a start for sure, but a win followed by 4 or 5 defeats or draws can’t be the pattern.

As for players, I really hope we can keep Christie. He looks the most competent right back we have had for some time, knocks spots off Laird.

Hardly goes with "what we don’t have is a midfield who work to create space of passes.
Manning, Cabango and Fisher were getting frustrated in the first half with Piroe, Obi, Wolf, Peterson all standing in a line the other side of the half way line, Grimes and Downes holding hand and Chistie isolated. "
Which was slating the Swans in the first half.
Except it is not "slating" is it?
It is critiquing and yours was spot on.

I was working in Bristol today and the bonus was that I managed to listen to the game on Radio Bristol. Not one refence to the Capital city or any player that has a gran that lived in a CF postcode. To be fair the commentators were reasonably unbiased. They thought the Bristol goal was possibly offside. They wondered why Swansea passed and passed and then went back to the keeper. They thought we were crazy taking so many risks from the back as it was putting pressure on our team. All the criticisms we mention they picked up on in the first half.
The second half they were furious with Bristol who were letting Swansea play through them. apparently Bristol have only had one penalty all season and were banging on about one they could have had in the second half which may have ended up with a drawn game. The phone in after the game was fairly entertaining though the fans were saying things we know. Swansea shouldn't be playing from the back in the way they do as they haven't got the players with the ability to do so. They are not a top Premier side!

Interesting they said we played through them 2nd half, refreshing to hear as I thought exactly the same as them, movement after the passing was so much better.

I thought...

- we were the better team, it would have been criminal not to get the 3pts
- Obafemi and Piroe on the pitch at the same time works better
- At least 2 of the 3 goals came from playing more direct (hopefully we will learn from this)
- the Man City kid at the back, Burns(?), was excellent. Assured with the ball at his feet, calm and great in the air.
- The formation is still wrong, it ensures that we are in deep shite every time we lose the ball unexpectedly in midfield whilst building an attack.
- The keeper, Fisher, is possibly the worst signing we have ever made
- Martin still playing lads out of position
- Even though we were much the better team we could still have screwed that up, the team and Martin made all the usual mistakes.
- Good to win though.

We seemed to line up like this;

------------------ Fisher ---------------------
---------------- Cabango -------------------
----- Burns ---------------- Manning -----
Christie -- Downes -- Grimes -- Wolff
------------------------------------------------
---------- Piroe ------- Patterson ---------
---------------- Obafemi --------------------

When it would have made more sense to go;

------------------ Fisher ---------------------
---------------- Cabango -------------------
----- Burns ---------------- Manning -----
Christie -- Downes -- Grimes -- Wolff
------------------------------------------------
------- Obafemi ------- Patterson --------
------------------- Piroe ----------------------

...but we should really be playing something like;

------------------ Fisher ---------------------
--------- Burns -------- Cabango ---------
Christie -------------------------- Manning
---------------- Downes ---------------------
------- Grimes ------------ Wolff ----------
---------------- Patterson -------------------
-------Obafemi ---------- Piroe -----------

A very mixed bag for me yesterday

1. Obviously good to win & collect the 3 points.
2. We attacked much better in the second half & deserved the win.
3. That said we could easily have conceded more goals with the Fisher-Cabango comedy routine regularly creating issues.
4. Piroe is not an inside right but neither is Obafemi so if we are playing both they need to be both up top.
5. Whilst I prefer Downes in the holding midfield spot if we are to persist with 3 at the back he is by far our best central CB, probably with Cabango on the right & Manning on the left.
6. We need to get Ogbeta up to speed & into the LWB role - we lose impact from both Wolf & Pato with then both half playing that position.
7. Ntcham adds good impact & momentum from the bench.
8. Fisher is clearly RM’s man so we need to accept that but he needs to take control more & make better and quicker decisions on how/when to release the ball.
9. Finally when we play at pace & look to go forward we look like we will score a lot more goals.
