You'd have to say that we've been particularly unlucky with the timing of Brexit. It couldn't have happened at a worse time. The stats are going to make it look like one of the worst decisions in the history of the British economy, even though that will largely be due to Covid-19. Many businesses are going to close down, the national debt will soar, the pound will continue its decline, poverty and crime will increase sharply and it's going to take years for us to recover to the prosperous position we were in last year in the EU. |  |

The economic indicators which might have been used to show whether it was a success or failure lose their validity. In future, both sides could use that as an argument in their favour. But, there is no doubt that Covid-19 has destroyed any feelgood factor there might have been. [Post edited 13 Mar 2020 9:25]

The only relevance the virus has to Brexit is that the economic impact of the virus will now make it pretty much impossible to identify any economic impact from Brexit.
And on the positive side, the existential threat that the virus represents to us all will, I hope, bring us all back together and help to heal the Brexit wounds quicker that might otherwise have been the case. |  |

That is a statement from the CAA 18 months ago yet you make it sound as though this is an issue that has just cropped up out of nowhere and caught everyone out. The CAA is a good organisation that works closely with EASA so does know what is required. Yes, there are issues to work out but that is why we have a transition period. I assume you'd rather wait until every t was crossed? Fook that. | |
