Routs played as a typical 9, nothing false about it. Holding the ball up and running in behind/into channels is the standard job, and he did it brilliantly.

He may be lanky, look clumsy sometimes, and find it difficult to fit into our system, but he;'s our most important squad member.

What a refreshing change. I’m surprised at his valuation but fair play to Birch. He won’t give an inch to anyone. Bodes well for the future when someone inadvertently finds the pot we used to p*ss in (hidden in the back of the janitors cupboard). If we got the Ayews and Borja permanently off the books I’m fairly confident we’d start spending money. Not crazy amounts but a hark back to our old trusted buy cheap and develop or continental bargain hunting would be most welcome. |  |
