Glamorgan cricket 2019 thread 07:40 - Apr 11 with 33213 views | dickythorpe | First up Northants https://www.glamorgancricket.com/cricket/news/2019/april/trio-set-for-championsh I think we'll be more competitive this season but no doubt plenty of highs and lows (reminds me off another sporting side I follow) Excited about Billy Root and the timeless Hogan and Wagg will keep us going. Hopefully the new signings will add to our team and get us RUNS!!!! [Post edited 13 Apr 2019 9:14]

We've had some hammerings off Northamptonshire in recent seasons so a draw isn't too bad. Records galore in this game. I'm sure 227 overs being bowled in their innings is the highest amount since the 1880's I don't think Maynard is too happy with Northamptonshire https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/47923570 "(The last hour) wasn't good, I've spoken to the ECB for years, if there's no possible (win/loss) result at tea on the final day that should be it because no-one wants to see that kind of cricket [Post edited 14 Apr 2019 19:58]

A great cricket ground loved by the late great Richie Benaud. Wilf Wooler knew the tide timetables off by heart 😀 [Post edited 17 Apr 2019 17:39]

Our version of the Freemantle Doctor - the tide coming in, Malcom Nash bowling huge inswingers ... Usually got a bit of turn on the last day - Shep and Pressdee in tandem. Wilf Wooler offering refunds over the tannoy when Yorkshire batted on without making a sporting declaration on the last day. Loved watching cricket there. Ed Smith's superb "What Sport Tells Us About Life" has a beautiful section on St. Helen's - some of it can be seen at the bottom here - https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=_m0IECWaixoC&pg=PT129&lpg=PT129&dq=ed+smith+ I doubt if anyone will ever write an elegiac piece about Sophia Gardens somehow...

Two of the best innings I've seen were at Swansea Greg Chappell 144 and Clive Lloyd 201 both for touring test sides.
