Roberts & Rodon Contracts 23:34 - Oct 5 with 4235 views | bonymine | We’d better make it an absolute priority to get new contracts sorted for these two whose current deals expire at the end of the current season. I sincerely hope that the Yanks can see beyond selling them both in January to generate a few million which would be well under ‘true value’ rather than tying them both into improved contracts which will serve to both ; 1) Increase each player’s market value given their age and performance levels 2) Hopefully keep them at the Club for years to come 3) Worst case scenario, increase/maximise the transfer fee we would receive should they be sold On paper it sounds like a ‘no brainer’ but with Pearlman & Judas at the helm heaven knows what will actually be the outcome here and for a combined salary > £1M between them it’s more like the Chuckle Brothers ‘in control’ .... Sort it out FFS !!!

Maybe Rog that’s a possibility but given the urgency of sorting this out then if they BOTH go as free Agents next Summer then Jenkins and Pearlman must have ‘been asleep on duty’ to allow that to happen given their HUGE salaries? ‘Sleeping on the Job’. ‘Closing the Stable Door After the Horse has Bolted’ I hope not but nothing surprises me anymore at OUR Club 💪💪💪

You are missing the point here Darr why have they both NOT been tied up on longer deals WELL before now ? Simple question really given last season’s relegation after Connor broke into the first team last season and Joe more recently but IF the Club had more foresight they would have tied down two of their BEST PROSPECTS to better deals than they are on and tied them into the Club. Given the firesale last Summer we really should have secured our most talented youngsters coming through to replace the ‘mercenaries’ on far better contracts ? It’s now coming back to bite us in the arse with our reluctance to offer these talented boys decent money resulting in them provably going elsewhere and WHO CAN BLAME THEM REALLY ? SCFC ....Mismanagement yet again 👎👎👎 [Post edited 6 Oct 2018 0:15]

In fairness these things take time. Roberts has progressed very rapidly from someone who didn't look like he would break through in his loan spells. Rodon didn't even look like he was going to be 4th choice in July.
Roberts & Rodon Contracts on 09:55 - Oct 6 with 2694 views | EU5Makaveli | Also worrying that; Van der Hoorn Fer Grimes Routledge Bony Olsson (has 1 year extension option) Also are all out of contract and could sign a contract with foreign club in Jan. It will be interesting to see who the club tries to tie down. For me the intentions of the Americans will be shown over the next couple of month with this contract situation. If Roberts, Rodon, Fer, Van der Hoorn and Grimes are not all at least offered contracts then it’s a massive indicator of where we’re heading. Olsson is a weird one- been decent for us but 30 now and with the further fall in revenue, I would be okay with leaving him go, along with Bony and Routledge if it meant keeping the rest. 'why have they both NOT been tied up on longer deals WELL before now ?" ??? Because Roberts has played in just 15 games for us and couldn't get a look in at Middlesborough when he went on loan. & Joe has exceeded all expectations in his 9 games to date having previously shown no signs he was ready before the start of the season. If they'd been given contracts and not bee up to scratch the club would have been crucified for wasting money.

It's worse than that. Theses idiots have got nowhere left to turn so it's now to pick on the contract situation of a couple of youngsters. When we give long contracts they have a go When we don't give long contracts they have a go. When we give extensions they have a go. When we don't, well you can guess it... Now Joe Rodon went out on loan last season and couldn't break into a League 2 team. Now they're like ah, mis-facking-management!!?? It's just so pathetic.

“League 2 Rodon” as he was described on here. The doomsday scenario that sent the forum into meltdown was the prospect of this player taking his place in the side. Now they are up in arms he wasn’t tied down to a lifetime contract before this season. The funny thing is, if he was, I’m sure when the news would have broken we would have had people saying “why are we giving players like this contracts?!”. It would be hilarious... if it wasn’t absolutely true.

Roberts & Rodon Contracts on 10:28 - Oct 6 with 2616 views | PozuelosSideys | Our defensive players and Fer have looked very solid in this division. Would be a bit stupid not to look to tie them all down. Would allow any recruitment to focus further up the field Can see Olsson, Bony and Routledge not being extended. Would put money on it that Fer will have offers in January from a club at the bottom end of the Prem too.

Exactly. There’s been a huge element of luck involved throwing them in at the deep end and it’s caught many people out.

Correct. Would we be entitled to compo if they went? Albeit a miserly sum given the way EPPP is skewed in favour of the big boys

Roberts & Rodon Contracts on 11:22 - Oct 6 with 2526 views | awayjack | Priority in the Summer was selling players / reducing costs. Don’t think the Board expected so many of the U23 to step-up so well. Growing rumours Roberts and Rodon are close to extending contracts. Fer and VDH more complex and be suprised if they signed extended deals.

Aye, all that investment into the U23’s was just for a laugh. Lucky eh? The fact McBurnie played in the PL, scored for fun in the Championship and Roberts was a PL regular just went unnoticed. [Post edited 6 Oct 2018 11:44]

Agreed. There is no way Swansea can compete with the Premier League teams in terms of contract, and I doubt that they would compete with some of the big payers in the Championship, but hopefully it won’t all be about the money. I would hope that the prospect of regular game time, working under a manager who seems to be able to get the best out of them and will further develop their playing abilities along with a decent pay rise and a promise not to stand in their way should some kind of super offer come in will persuade them to sign on the dotted line. Going to one of the big boys would be a guarantee of reserve team football again.

I think people are getting carried away. Let’s be honest both players have archived absolutely nothing yet, and wouldn’t even get in the reserve side of many PL clubs.

It must have gone unnoticed because we almost lost Ollie and Roberts is not tied down yet. Personally I think Rodon and Roberts will sign new deals, better the devil you know etc and they have not played enough games yet for real interest from higher level clubs. Key signings which will prove intent will be in getting Fer and VDH tied up, this will be a tougher challenge IMO .
