Reported on MEN that Belle Vue dog track is to be demolished for housing. Also reports that the track is currently owned by the "Crown Oil Pension Fund"
Better not sell our ground to our sponsors otherwise we might end up with houses on it !
Not seen this before but I was browsing the BIFFO board and saw a link which showed all the league clubs highest attendances. I was surprised to see that Fleetwoods highest ever gate was against the mighty Dale for an FA cup game in 1965
This game will always stick in my mind - Because I missed it due to not knowing it was a 12:00 kick off. I was fully intending to go to the game, when I put the radio on and heard that we were losing 2 nil. 2 goals from Lee mcevily secured the first point for dale's caretaker manager Keith Hill.
I think that this was an important game in our history. The confidence boost given by the comeback must have helped in the following games 2 four nil victories over Boston and Grimsby where we saw the genesis of the no fear football that we were treated to over the next 4 years.
Hopefully Keith can find him mojo again because the performances that we have had to endure at spotland over the last 12 months have almost wiped away the memories of the early years.
According to the Macclesfield website we played a BCD friendly today at their place. It doesn't mention the dale team must kosi scored both goals in a 5-2 defeat.
Presumably this will be on Lenny Barn or Springfield park this year?
Not heard anything about the squad going to Tenerife this year and if we are playing Stalybridge a week on Friday there is not much of a window available to get to the Canaries and back?
Personally I am not sure as to the benefits of a hard week grafting in boiling weather. We always seem to have a poor start to the season and I wonder if it because the players are knackered from their toils in the sun.
That said it does seem that we have a good finish most seasons and there is an argument that this could be down to the core fitness levels built up in the summer training camp.
Looked pretty ropey during the Checkatrade game against Donny - was quite surprised at this as the first few months of the season it seemed to be holding up pretty well.
