Brighton is a fantastic city. Come out of the station, and facing the sea you have a number of options. For the best Ale, take the road on the right and head for the 'Evening Star', home of the Dark Star Brewery. Or, go under the station forecourt and you have three of the best Pubs in the city. The Prince Albert, the Nelson, or down the road a little, the Great Eastern. take a right up the hill for the Battle of Trafalgar, great old boozer. If Metallica hoop is coming down, he needs to go to the Caroline of Brunswick. If you are all day Iinking, get a cab to the Lion and Lobster, great food there too. If you fancy clubbing, bring ID for all the Seafront clubs. For younger fans, I suggest the Green door store. On A Tuesday they have Donuts, you'll need ID. Of course, early on, you could visit Lewes for a traditional feel. And don't forget they sell Harveys at the Amex.... If you're looking for a ruby, go to the Eastern Eye. You don't always get what you ordered, but their food is spectacular.
See you all on Tuesday, iI hate saying this, but if you need to get back to London, I do suggest leaving five minutes before the end.
In defence of Motörhead, they only stopped because lemmy died. Agreed that AC/DC with Axel Rose just doesn't seem right. I guess people said that when Bon Scott died too. Now I saw Hawkwind the other day, nearly 50 years on and they're were absolutely brilliant. Some bands go on and on
An honest man, protecting the rights of working men and women, publicly sticking it to the elite. Good man, conviction politician, socialist, republican. We need more Dennis Skinners. He gets my full support.
Well that is debatable. unemployment fell massively but largely through book cooking, oppressive policy and fear. Jews weren't allowed to work, so were taken out of the statistics, women were very much encouraged not to work, but not added to unemployment figures. Those in compulsory military service were taken from the numbers. If a person was offered work - any work - but refused to take it, they risked being labelled as work shy and risked nazi punishment such as imprisonment or worse, I imagine it would be seen as unpatriotic. Wages and work conditions did not significantly rise through 1933-1939 either, and thus is not surprising due to the hard line taken against trade unions at the time. The Nazis spent an enormous amount on military spending, which ultimately becomes unsustainable, especially when losing. It goes without saying that they invaded other countries and stole their resources too.
It's not the 'turn around' that anyone in their right minds would want repeated. Trump is a disgusting bigoted untruthful bully, and we need to run to the hills if he ever becomes president of the United States.
It calms me down after spending near 70 quid on two tickets to the Amex just to watch Brighton fans celebrate their ever more likelier but completely undeserved promotion. I'd love it if we beat them, love it.
Still alive. More importantly, heard the beautiful words "Queens Park Rangers" across the tannoy as I crossed the finish line. Highlight of the day. Got a couple of 'you R's' too.
I wonder if I have the minerals to do a full marathon. One day perhaps.
If anyone is about and sees a 43 year old wheezing across The Ridge in a slightly too tight Guinness replica. Give him some sarcastic abuse to boost morale. "You don't know what you're doing" should do for starters. I wish I hadn't had that fifth pint during the rugby... Never mind, I'll run it off.
I love him. Just what we need in this league. Committed, team player, wants to play, shows for the ball, worries defenders, works well with Cherry (watch that pairing next season if Cherry stays) a bit mental in the best QPR tradition, we've got to get behind him, you fell he'd run through walls for us if we sung his name all game.
Yes, he was a great and contemporary to Hendrix, and dare I say, held his own in that league. Leo Lyons was my hero when I first started playing bass. I bet that live they were untouchable, never saw them.
You mean, let me understand this 'cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little ****ed up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to ****in' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
Seeing Michael Gove huddled up in the paddock with an old friend/father (well, I'm 90% sure it was him). I can't stand the man's policies, but at least he is a fan and goes to matches, and not in the VIP sections either.
That pretty much shows how unforgettable this season has been, which is not necessilary a bad thing. At least I am watching matches with a bit of hope of victory, or at least a draw.
