... has become a fûcking embarrassment. I know it’s populated by a sizeable proportion of skates but the ratio of normal fans to snivelling, spoilt, whining cry babies has gone completely out of kilter recently. Deep down I know that this is just a reflection of modern football - me me me, want want want, now now now - but it’s gotten way out of hand.
The collective meltdown about losing a couple of end-of-season friendlies is just astonishing. You can say that this is just a mongboard and that’s true but we all know this poison is polluting SMS too. Don’t be happy clapper but ffs just try being a half-decent supporter for two seconds.
For those of you driving this hysteria, you’re the types that will never be happy anyway so you won’t have noticed how mental you look. For those of you who still have some perspective and a love for the game and not the business of football, you have my respect for putting up with this nonsense.
This has been our biggest issue this season. We had an unprecedented run of injuries and bad luck but with a deeper squad I think we still would have been able to steady the ship and not drop so far down the table. We’ve shown that our first team is very decent but beyond that we’re struggling and can get ourselves into trouble with some injuries or suspensions.
So, if we want to keep progressing and aim for realistic targets next season (a cup run and mid-table finish or a European spot but probably without a cup run) then what do we need to achieve that, presuming that the current squad stays as it is (bar loan players)? I’m not making this thread to have a long-winded debate about our owners because it’s pretty clear where we stand on that front. I’m interested to know what players you think we need and how near or far we are to achieving that.
Spouting utter shîte over and over again during the match and his beloved Pompey lose 1-0 to a goal set up by Josh Sims
I hope every proper Saints fan enjoyed that. We might be a bit crap at the back and it’s frustrating that we can’t spend more money to sort it out but that’s all I’ve ever known as a Saints fan anyway. Don’t let the new breed numpties drag you down and enjoy Hasenhuttl being here while it lasts because he’s working wonders with a pretty average team. UTS
What a player he was! Always injured unfortunately but when he played he was mustard. One of the few Redknapp signings I actually liked. Played a key part in setting up Raziak’s equaliser against Derby in the play-off semi too which is in my top 5 Saints supporting moments.
Randomly came across this on YouTube. They are worse than Pompey for self-mythologising. I always remember goalies being applauded at the Dell and even St Mary’s until around the last decade maybe. Apparently it is a unique Anfield tradition ffs.
I know it’s considered controversial by the site admin to post anti-Liverpool stuff on a Southampton forum, but the scousers and their media friends have been giving it the big’un all week about the ‘special’ and ‘intimidating’ atmosphere that awaits Atletico (as if they have no experience of it at their own stadium). PLEASE Atleti, in the name of the little good that still exists in football, get an early goal and shut them all up. If it was the last game they get to watch before the rest of the season is played behind closed doors that would be even better!
I think we should try and score more goals than Newcastle whilst trying not to let any in. I don’t know why RH tries to make it any more complicated than that. Gad
