We've all had nights out with mates where it's gone event horizon off-the-rails but that knees up muvva brown from the Derby Players that night, was Jonathon E last man standing at -the-Tokyo-Dome Proportions.

They must feel such Cnts. I know I would.

Hilarious that the BBC are reporting he feels 'badly let down' by Derby - if the boot were any more on the other foot, it'd be glued to it! Mind you, I would assume that, legally the club'll have taken advice, and could not do this unless they can legitimately cite gross misconduct (which this surely was).

I agree, though, that the other two seem to have got off with an unjust slap on the wrist, so maybe that's something the PFA will be looking at on the player's behalf.

Perhaps those two cnts will cover his wages until he’s fit to play for someone.

Think I can guess the answer to that.

can't say i blame the club seemed quite reasonable to extend his contract for a year to help him recover but pay him less wages as he wouldn't be playing. Daft of him to turn it down

I agree that it would be a gross misconduct related dismissal. He will be able to sue whichever was driving for negligence (the driver likely will be uninsured, the insurer will pull cover). A bit of contributory negligence from Keoth. Nice bit of litigation!

I think Derby will lose this at tribunal. Their previous offer to pay reduced salary could be easily argued to be constructive dismissal and merely an attempt to avoid their financial obligations as an employer. Had they not made that offer and done this straight after the incident it might have worked. The lack of equivalent treatment with the two who actually broke the law will also be easy evidence for any decent lawyer.

In summary then, they are all greedy irresponsible dodgy morally bankrupt cockroaches

Never knowingly understood

Dave,

From my reading of that linked article it seems that Derby haven't offered to extend his contract but have instead requested that he take a reduced wage on the remainder of his existing contract. Am I misreading it?

Wasn't it his existing contract, though, not a one year add-on they offered him after the crash on reduced terms? To play devils advocate, would you just suck it up if, say, you got pissed and crashed your company car, and the company said 'ok, you can stay with us, but on half the money'? He'll have a mortgage of x and family outgoings of y etc., which he's presumably committed to like anyone. Clearly, sympathy will be limited for a pro footballer who was reportedly earning 24k a week, and who, especially for a club captain, has behaved like an utter dork in a way that could have been much worse, but I can just about see why he might choose to cut his losses.

It's a bit harsh what Derby have done but Keogh has to take a share of the blame for the predicament he finds himself in. He knew he was getting into a car with someone who was massively over the drink/drive limit and the potential consequences this might bring.

This did make me laugh though:

“The club will not tolerate any of its players or staff behaving in a manner which puts themselves, their colleagues, and members of the general public at risk of injury or worse, or which brings the club into disrepute. The club will be making no further comment at this time regards this matter until the conclusion of any potential appeal.”

As long as your names aren't Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett presumably.

I think it stinks actually. All three should be sacked. Just that the other two have more 'value' to them being younger than Keogh who is thirty something. So it's not a moral standpoint, just cashing in the situation. Derby should hang their head in shame imo.

So , sacked for gross misconduct but they were happy to keep him on if he took a pay cut

The other 2 broke the law and caused the situation , yet are back playing after 1 game ?

Not so daft when he has a signed contract until 2021. He will take them to a tribunal for unfair dismissal and will probably win. Meanwhile two convicted criminals are still employed . The worlds gone mad part 482.

Derby staying really classy these days.

How I long for a tabloid headline in March when a new recruit they sign in the January window get's exposed for shagging a 70 year old prostitute or something similar.

I wish them every failure.

i read elsewhere they were going to extend it by a year, neither side comes out of it well and I think Keogh is going to need serious help from the PFA, can see him have big problems in the next few years dealing with how his career has ended, we all laugh at the Zamora goal etc but blimey he's been through some tough times the last few years and you have to worry about his mental state after all these massive lows.

We don't know what happened on the night in question or what goes on behind the scenes though, a lot more to it imo than what has come out, they won't have done this lightly

They've probably been able to do this (or think they're able to do this) because it will say in his contract words to the effect that he's not to do anything that renders him unable to train and play football, barring injuries sustained in the course of that naturally. He's done something that puts him out for 18 months, basically retiring him, whereas the other two are still fit and able to play.

As said above though, firstly I would think saying you can stay on reduced money and then when he refuses it suddenly deciding its gross misconduct won't look good at a tribunal. And secondly it's pretty transparent why the two who are young and could one day be sold for money are kept on and the crusty old cripple gets bombed out.

Morally bankrupt that club over the last few years. Trying every little twist and trick to work their way around rules.
