I think if we were taught critical thinking at school instead of being expected to memorise Shakespeare or the accession dates of Kings and Queens then we’d be equipped to handle information better and separate bullshit from non bullshit.

The government should've scrapped the licence fee but they bottled it. The BBC has long since ceased to be an impartial news outlet if it ever was. Unlike the corporate media who will of course promote the given narrative of the day the BBC has the opportunity, responsibility and obligation to be objective. It is not. I grew up in a house with the Daily Mail and News at 10 with Trevor McDonald being the voice of current affairs.
I dont watch the news or buy papers anymore but i know whats going on in the world through sites like this and other social media platforms.
I think you have to be aware of peoples agenda when reading stuff online which is one of the reasons why you pissed me off so much on here , cos you were relentless in your crusade. (you've chilled out now tbf)
I actually think learning basic ,accurate history gives you a good understanding on things happening now. Its nothing new. Look at the Palestine v Israel conflict.
