£12 Million bid accepted for Bony 19:25 - Aug 22 with 39401 viewsSwans_16

Hearing that a bid of £12 million has been accepted by City from us, and the deal with the player is now 'close'.

McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Subway and numerous Thai/Chinese Restaurants have all applied for licenses with Swansea City Council in anticipation of the 'additional demand'.

Which part of Siggy haven't we replaced? The corner taker part, the free kick taker part or the open play part? Seems like Carroll/Mesa will take free kicks and Carroll will take corners. We have enough left sided players who can dump a decent cross into the box from open play, so maybe we're missing a good right sided crosser. At the risk of upsetting the Siggy lovers on here, what we really need is a genuine number 10. Siggy wasn't one - IMHO, obvs. So in that sense, he wouldn't be a Siggy replacement.

Yes - it would be more accurate if I'd said number 10, or some sort of creative force or game changer.

We haven't bought one, and for all the debate about Siggy, pro and con, he could change a game.

The closest thing we had to a playmaker under Laudrup was De Guzman, and he didn't exactly base himself in the hole. Get the team approach right and you don't need one.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Err how?

Like Ploppy says, with a set piece? We've got that bit sorted from what I've seen of Carroll's free kicks so far.

Or do you mean the three (3!!!) assists from open play?

Not many games changed there I don't think.

A big part of me thinks that Llorente helped him look great at free kicks. It's got to be much easier to get up the assist chart when you have a striker that good in the air.

Changing the game is just that and it matters not that it was a set piece. However i do agree with Siggy going argument and being replaced by someone more akin to the playing direction we're heading in.

Two winners last season...

Liverpool away.
Southampton at home

Assists a plenty but how many got us points?

We need better from our creative force who ever that is to be.

I can see us dropping Ayew a bit further back and playing Tammy and either Bony or Llotente up top.

Bony and Tammy upfront with Fer at the tip of the diamond. There's goals there.

If we buy Bony (I hope we don't ,but want Huw wants he gets! ) players like him thrive on supply. Where are the crosses and openings coming from ? Our wingers and midfielders need some creative spark in just hope they get the inspiration from Clement and his coaching staff.

At home against the bums that sounds exciting.

We're going to need to dig deep a lot this season and we'll need a tight 5 across the middle. Not sure that's a good option for those games.

I agreed with selling him for the money we got as much as you did Res, but you can't ignore the points we picked up as a result of him, or him and Llorente combined.

The point at Man Utd just as a single example, was a vital one in fairness, and it's debatable whether Carroll could do that.

I'm with you in preferring our points to come from a much more creative, expansive game, but we need to sign more than Clucas if that's going to happen. We desperately need a creative spark.

So looks like we are shipping Llorente out, probably to Everton - and replacing with Bony?

Pabs was closest to the type imo, even if he often started out wide.

But anyhow, as Lisa says what we need is someone with the quality to change the game in a blink of the eye. We don't really have that. We had it with Sinclair. We had it with Siggy. We had it with Michu and we had it with Bony. These players are the difference between mid-table and a relegation fight.

Be interesting to see if Bony can get back to where he was (assuming we sign him). I'm sceptical based on his recent record, but obviously have no idea how fit or sharp he his / can become again.

Yup, despite Ayew high effort levels, he's not that creative. Why don't we try to get rid of 5 of our poor attacking players for one decent creative player? The thought of Routs and Narsingh coming on in last 20 to change our game against PL defenders is scary! Montero and Dyer are made of glass and McBurnie needs a long time in lower leagues to develop. Not sure if PC sees things differently or no interest from championship in for any of these 5 for transfer or loan. L1 clubs couldn't afford wages.

1/20 now with Skybet.

Looks like it's happening ... Siggy was 1/10 when we all knew it was a done deal so someone somewhere knows that it's done.

Bony seems very much the next deal.

According to reports, interest in Chadli has cooled due to the £25M asking fee.
