Under pressure, having done nothing for days Rishi Sunak finally manages to summon up courage and disown this fella.

Mr Williams responds by issuing a statement saying that he has committed an error of judgement not a criminal offence.

Strange, because I would have thought that gambling on something knowing full well that there is only one possible outcome, would be seen by most fair minded people as simple cheating.

Cheating is an offence I believe under the 2005 Gambling Act which carries a maximum punishment of two years imprisonment.

If his constituents show him the door on July 4 his grubby attempt to make a quick £500 is going to prove one of the most costly wagers he will ever make.

“With Tories it always used to be sex scandals”.Not heard of Michelle Mone then Bridders2?

You know, the bra lady who I believe currently sits in the House of Lords as a Conservative.

My memory isn’t so good as it used to be, but wasn’t she ( perhaps still is ) under investigation by the National Crime Agency concerning a £200 million pound contract with the Government to supply PPE during Covid ?

Southgate was an average centre half and had an average management career before taking the England job.

Today I read a comment which sums him up perfectly:-

“He is the kind of guy who would wear a cycle helmet whilst riding a Peloton.”

If we are to win the tournament he needs to completely change his mind set and put out a team to attack rather than one coached to play “ After you Claude.” sideways and backwards football.

I suspect however that he won’t change and Englands search for a first major competition win since 1966 will shortly be extended for a further two years.

What I find incomprehensible given the life style they already have is why any of the Tories concerned would bother.

In the case of the first M P that got found out it’s suggested that the bet was £100 at 5/1. Who in their right mind risks their reputation for a gain of just £500 ? After all it’s not exactly a life changing sum is it ?

I’ve no idea as to the sum allegedly gambled by the Director of Conservative Campaigns wife but unless it was a sum far in excess of the first M P’s punt it’s equally difficult to understand why she bothered.

Reference the member of Rishi Sunaks close protection team who it is alleged was arrested and suspended from duty for placing a bet. Would he by any chance be a member of The Metropolitan Police an organisation who I believe to be in Special Measures ?

What the Red Tops also don’t tell us saint901 is that at the end of December 2023 there were 128786 asylum seekers waiting to have their claim for citizenship heard. 65% of that figure had been waiting more than 6 months.

Yet another example to add to your list of things that are important, not forgetting of course a failing judiciary system where I understand that it’s not unusual for rape victims to have to wait 3 years before their case is put before the courts.

Well done Bazza it takes a person with a good character to apologise, thank you.

I’ve held some strong views myself and made comments which later I wished I hadn’t, so your not alone by a long chalk. It’s all part of being human I suppose.

At the end of the day we may disagree about politics but what matters is that for some bizarre reason we all agree that we love The Saints.

Bazza, for the benefit of every one, including your good self, let’s keep our comments civil please.

I appreciate that passions may run deep particularly at general election time, but the content of your first sentence is not really necessary and does you no credit whatsoever. In the circumstances an apology would not go amiss.

A very interesting manifesto ( he referred to it as contract ) from Mr Farage. The only concern being that every man and his dog immediately sussed that it was not financially viable.

Was I surprised at their conclusion, of course not. Why? Because his fantasy land economics are being put forward by a man who told us all that if we voted for his previous master plan the N H S would immediately receive an additional £350 million pounds a week and our borders would be instantly controlled. I don’t recall that’s gone very well, do you ?

Mr Farage is a charlatan with only two interests in life, himself and his good friend the equally odious Mr Trump. In their case never a truer word spoken “ Judge a man by the company he keeps “.

Bridder2 I think that you may find that your definition of the 150,000 to which you refer is incorrect.

It is my understanding that under International Law such people are asylum seekers and remain so until their application for asylum has been heard. They only become illegal immigrants should their application fail.

Whether you or anybody else thinks that giving them asylum is good or bad for the country is a matter of personal opinion.

What I suggest most people can agree with is the fact that the Tory Government of the past 14 years allowing such a vast backlog of applications to have accumulate has benefited absolutely no one whatsoever.

Some Tragic News About SFC_Referee
at 17:53 17 Jun 2024

I never met him but like many others who have posted, imagined that by the quality and thoughtfulness of his contributions he was much older than 19 years.

Coping with the loss of a child is beyond my comprehension. Hopefully his father and family may take some small comfort from seeing the esteem he was held in by those who met him together with other Saints who follow the Ugly.

Rest in Peace, Sir.

Difficult to see much of a chance of progressing to the final with Kane up front, totally ineffective once again.

No need for it Scoot.

With respect, you don’t have to view this part of the site and nor do you need to contribute if you don’t want to. Neither is compulsory.

And by the way, your caps lock is possibly jammed and there are two Ls in Football.

saint901, if it helps you with your decision the bookies are of the opinion that the Liberal Democrats may well get the huge swing you mentioned.

Currently, they are 8/11 on favourites to win the constituency of Romsey and Southampton North.

Would this be the same Mr Farage who along with Boris Johnson and Michael Gove told us all that Brexit would be best thing since sliced bread ?

I’m sure we all remember the promises don’t we, £350 million a week for the N H S and control of our borders etc etc. That went well didn’t it ?

Mr Farage is only interested In publicity to satisfy one thing, his own ego. He has no concern for the well being of the U K public whatsoever. He’s nothing but a charlatan and a fraud who appeal is restricted to the hard of thinking.

For what it’s worth I don’t disagree with a word you have said franniesTache and thanks for the examples of Mr Farage’s odious past behaviour..

Yesterday Mr Sunak brought our club into disrepute by his association with us.
at 23:07 9 Jun 2024

Nick, over the last few days I’ve attempted to explain the reasons behind my personal opinion that Mr Sunak has brought disrepute to S F C. I stand full square by my views.

Some contributors to the debate have agreed with me, others have not. Throughout, I’ve stated that whilst not agreeing with them ( including yourself ) I respect their opinion.

On the whole it’s been a civilised discussion ( reflecting well on those use your Forum site ) about a subject to which I acknowledge there may be no definitive answer.

Put simply, I feel that it’s now time to put the matter to bed now with the old adage “ We are going to have to agree to disagree”. Hopefully you will feel the same.

Nick, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the man who sits next to me, carpet bombing, Arsenal, Mr Starmer or Jimmy Saville does it?

Let’s keep it simple. Last Thursday Mr Sunak as our Prime Minister was representing us all in a non political capacity.

He more than anybody else other than perhaps the King, on our behalf, had a duty to honour this countries last few defenders of democracy. He failed.

It is my contention that not only does his failure reflect badly upon him personally but also our country and by implication Southampton F C with whom he has a significant past and currently ongoing association.

As previously stated my personal view is that I would be happy if Mr Sunak did not attend St Mary’s again. Others including your good self hold a different view. I respect that view but I’m sure you will forgive me if I don’t agree with it.

No problem Chesham Saint. We all have different views on what we regard as important, it’s what makes life interesting.

With great respect to you however, as someone who says he doesn’t want to engage in what he describes as puerile tosh, you have in fact contributed twice already.

As for the colour of next season’s socks. I can’t help you on that one and I don’t expect your local students union can either!

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for the info djsaint, every day is a school day as the saying goes.

Your concern for my voting intentions is heart warming although I can assure you that the conclusion you appear to have reached is the incorrect one.

If it helps put your mind at ease. I can confirm that it is my intention to vote on July 4 as I have done in the past at every opportunity given to me at more general elections than I care to remember.

Of course I’m happy to leave judgment on Mr Sunak to others. Collectively ( but obviously including my one vote) it is the judgement of millions that matter and not just my opinion. That’s how a democracy functions djsaint. It is indeed living proof of what my father, uncles and countless others of their generation served successfully to secure.

Thank you again for your concerns on my behalf and enjoy your weekend.
