That’s the post head and shoulders best player on the pitch

Is there any way we can actually sign him. Maybe a couple of players out in the summer and use the funds towards it. Him and JCS or even Morrison could be a future pairing. All good on the ball. They said on commentary about him playing in the left as though it might be an issue. He is so good on the ball though and getting his body in the right position, he actually seemed better than on the right

lets hope we've got another duncan edwards........one for the oldens.

Southampton are having a horrendous season at the back and they have not picked Edwards at all.

Hard to understand that.

On that display he is premier league standard class now.

Unfortunately he will only be here for this season.

Looks like a future international to me.

Some were peed, we got him in on loan when we grooming him for rivals next season perhaps and keeping out our own players, but to get this guy in, was an excellent piece of business.

Yep shades of Roeder and Fenwick with the gliding out of defence and through the midfield.

Word of the day - IMPERIOUS !!

Well played Sir !!!!

I doubt it because Saints would be bloody mad to let him go. They should be playing him now rather than sending him down to us.

It won't happen but wouldn't it be delicious if we somehow went up as Southampton come down and we pinch him off them.

Never knowingly right.

Did I read right that Southampton got him for £3m? That’s a bargain if so- wish we had him on a permanent

Different gravy.

A good loan because he makes us better and we could never afford him.

Only chance if we go up and they go down, Roederesque. Someone said he hasn’t got pace, totally disagree he’s one of those that glides so deceptive, Roederesque. Can’t think of a better compliment,

Glenn Roeder was the first name that came to mind as I watched him tonight - Majestic.

I thought Roeder as well. I would love to see that moment at the end of the first half when he somehow extricated himself from having their big c/f all over him and then just purred through the midfield.

Looked class tonight. Sadly cannot see how he’s ours next season. Much more likely to be lining up for Southampton against us.

Perhaps they sell him then, but I still doubt it AND we need a minimum of 2pts per game for play offs from here, let alone win the damn thing.

Slim.

Pure Class, a few around us, all said how good he was, can’t believe he couldn’t get a game for Southampton! We can just enjoy watching him play for us this season, does look good on the ball going forward, times his challenges well and takes up great positions. Don’t think he’ll he will be with Southampton long, a star player in the making!
He’s ours for now!

Less than a month ago people were slagging off the manager for picking Edwards in the FA Cup and using his selection as evidence that we were playing a weakened team.

Certainly wasn’t me, but in fairness the criticism was more that he had not played much and certainly not with these players so it was always going to be disjointed at Leicester .

Last night though…he was just so superior to anybody else out there as the OP states.
Not just the way he kept striding forward with the ball but his reading of the game and his tenacity and accuracy in every challenge or one on one .

It’s a bold move by Southampton and an understandable one to get him games for next season but he plays like this every week until May, Sheffield United for example , presuming they go up might take a punt on him instead as he looks more than capable of adapting to that level in the near future

Ronnie “ beckenbauer” Edwards on 07:47 - Feb 5 with 1346 viewsRsole

He clearly reads the game well and seems to make good decisions.

I suspect that Southampton don’t want to traumatise the guy too much this season and build his confidence elsewhere. Thinking back to Rob Dickie’s latter days with us.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

We've done the cup argument to death yet you are still retrofitting events to cement your delight at chucking the cup.

The hindsight arguments go the other way, including a missed trip to Old Trafford, resting Dunne which could have ended up beng in order to keep him fit for Sheffield Utd, and we aren't going to get promoted or relegated etc etc.

I don't care even if we win the league, not trying our best in cup games will grind my gears to the day I die.

And the criticism of Marti included primarily the fact he didn't care DURING the match, never mind the selection.

I thought Edwards was our MOM at Wall playing most of the game at RB. Last night I thought he was clearly the best player on the pitch. Excellent performance, really enjoyed watching that and the whole game/result.

So composed, he made last night look like a walk in the park. I doubt he will even be at Southampton for much longer playing like that.

Only one of those things will happen.

He’s looking like some player but he is also playing instead of Morrison, who should be starting for us.
