The problem is that it is not true that these companies made a loss, a simple internet search would provide those figures.
So once again someone is trying to spread false information.
They are expensive as their main aim is profit, almost all of their profits are paid out to shareholders rather than being reinvested. Which equals an poor but expensive service. | |

Profits could be used to subsidise their own rail network, that's why European rail travel is so much cheaper than ours.

Normal subsidies of 6 billion a year to non British owners...so where do the big wages go then? Who is actually running these companies, people working for the foreign owners?
Why does the government give such big subsidies to privately owned concerns? Sort of makes "nationalisation won't work" seem like a silly argument to me because privatisation is clearly not working to the tune of that annual 6 billion. | |

I do wish you could understand the real world of business it would stop you making suck an idiot of your self so often. Rail travel last year was half of prepandemic levels and revenues were also half of prepandemic levels. Cost of running the railways remained the same therefore they are loss making. | |

The facts and figure have been quoted time and time again. The UK gave them billions and billions to cope with pandemic levels as such they still made a profit every year.

Thats one of my issues Keith.
Not one day off for me nor my wife and now there seems to be a queue of people wanting to push the button. Many, many industries and firms were helped to survive thanks to the furlough scheme (traditionally not a Conservative thing so well done to the government) and now millions want to get more money because they have to, god forbid, go to work.
I understand that there is a course, a cost of living crisis but to start throwing toys out of the pram this quickly is a bit rich.
To be fair though, the RMT workers have a rough deal and aren't there just because they want more money. |  |
