A very welcome return to winning ways and we are seeing a little more width, albeit defensive width, but it’s offering some hope and a little light at the end of a very long dark tunnel.
We have had a very favourable run of 5 games however, with all teams we picked 3 points up from being in the bottom half currently, and 3 of the 4 being in the bottom 6.
Our next 4 games are against teams we should be seeing as our equals, it’s being able to impose ourselves on these that will see where we stand as a team, not against the likes of Wigan, Cardiff and Huddersfield.
Continue this form in the last 4 games and I would be happy to see if Russ can continue this into next season. Revert to type however and I won’t see it as anything other than yet another false dawn against inferior teams.
Social media yet again trying to ruin people simply for some attention.
I’ve been made aware of people changing his Wikipedia description to unflattering versions, what is wrong with people? He’s an inexperienced keeper facing a confidence crisis.
It’s one thing to give constructive criticism, it’s quite another to turn it into some online bullying campaign.
If I had the power to do so, I would ban every player having a Twitter account in my team as a condition of playing. The amount of bile on these sorts of social media sites is staggering. Quite why anyone would want to have an account I’m not quite sure, especially if you are in the public eye.
Ben Foster talked about it recently and the impact it has on players. One for Fish if he is reading:
- I sense a snide jibe at the supporters while masking it with “they have every right” or something.
- The ref is going to get some blame for giving out yellow cards.
- The players are going to get blamed despite being made to play his awful way. We didn’t miss a load of great chances and Stoke deservedly beat us.
0.94 xG vs 2.80 xG (quite incredible).
That’s my guess as to the three pronged blame game at the end of it. Couldn’t possibly be him you see. Despite hauling off his star signing after 30 mins and making the same suicidal mistakes he made in game 1.
It’s a question I have asked on various threads but not getting an answer.
£10,000,000 of their own money, out of their own pockets has been put in my them so far and not listed as debt with it being converted to equity.
So who in our history has put in more of their own money than this ownership group?
I feel some toys being firmly dislodged from some prams over the last 48 hours calling them liars and all sorts.
Running the club at an even keel, an ability to source external cheap investment and ploughing a couple of million into transfers every season is exactly what we want isn’t it? Plus the support and time given to an uninspiring manager is also off the scale which is what people wanted…
If it isn’t then please let me know what it is we are wanting from the next owners.
Wood is likely to come back into the starting line up against Bristol barring any last minute changes of tactics, Martin been working with him on defensive possession patterns this week in training, determined to make it work.
Ogbene has spoken with Obafemi about a potential move here, apparently they are good friends. Let’s say he wasn’t overly encouraging about playing here or flattering about Martin. Apparently his concerns about playing here is also playing a part in the move becoming extremely uncertain.
As touched upon last week, they are really starting to click now. Pushed up into the mid table mix on the same points as Leicester and Leeds after another good result. Away wins in the Premier League are never easy, no matter who they are.
Nice to see a traditionally big club like that back where they belong, good on them.
The thread on Russ being a lower league player got me thinking.
Who is the best player to ever make a top manager?
So that’s greatest football and managerial career combined. I can’t think of too many who have excelled as truly world class in both, not in the modern era anyway.
Pep I guess, but after him it’s very thin on the ground in terms of managers who have dominated the managerial sector AND playing.
Is now the 4th longest serving manager currently in the Championship.
I don’t think the ‘give him time’ mob have too much more leeway do they?
Coventry Reading Burnley Watford Sunderland
These games will take him to 15th of Jan. If we continue our slide and he continues to set us up this way, then we should pay him off, even if we have to make a player sale in order to do so.
Allow the new man/woman to come in and do what they can for the remainder of the transfer window, even if it’s restricted to loans or free transfers.
For me it’s lost a lot of it’s spice. It could be an age thing, but I think it’s become too uncompetitive. I remember I used to dread them, but for the last 10-15 years they have just seemed to be a formality.
I read that they like to say it’s our cup final and we drum it into all our players how much it means to us, but I think that’s nonsense. I don’t even know when we face them most of the time until maybe the week before.
Just a quick look around the different forums, count how many threads there are about us from them, and count how many about them there are from us (yes I suppose you can count this one) - it’s not even comparable.
Cardiff have seemed to be an irrelevance for a long time now and that’s the only thing I can put it down to.

18 points out of a possible 24 15 goals scored 1 goal conceded
If they get relegated this season I think that could mark the end of the derby as we knew it. The kids growing up in this era won’t care.
