Any excuse on 10:40 - Mar 14 by majorraglan | It doesn’t reflect well on the police, but they are in a difficult position. Their job is to uphold the law fairly and to do that there has to be some consistency, you can’t have WYZ protest being allowed and ABC protest being prevented. A couple of weeks ago there were loads of people complaining that SWP didn't break up a protest outside outside a police station in Cardiff. This was a seemingly peaceful protest and based on what the media are saying it seems the policing was over zealous, but like most events there is normally a hardcore of people stirring it up and kicking off. Who is to stay the arrests weren’t justified? Not the greatest day in the history of British policing, but let’s see what comes out of. From what I could see last night on the news, the police were using their body cameras so if they’ve been over zealous it will be on camera. |
Yeah it’s inevitable these days that for any protest in amongst the genuine protesters who are there for the right reasons there will be the usual rent-a-mob lot that turns up for everything to just kick off and cause trouble.

Any excuse on 10:34 - Mar 14 by Catullus | Oh here we go......I agree with you....AGAIN! The police needed to have a sensible coversation with the organisers and say we'll do this but people have to be sensible, they have to distance, wear face masks and if they refuse that we will ask them to leave. Then the organisers could convey the message and it could have gone ahead. A massive cock up over a womans vigil overseen by Cressida Dick, as a woman herself couldn't she have had some empathy, as a police chief couldn't she foresee the possibilities? It was a vigil, it shouldn't have turned nasty. They should have sent female officers and kept th men to as few as possible and as far back as possible. The Met screwed up. In reply to the question about the Everard family, NO, nobody is considering them or their feelings. |
â¤ï¸ the Cat..... besties mucker ... The organisers and the police had to agree how this was policed with safe distancing. The police failed everyone. At least the future queen was not kettled, eh ..

Well, not for all. There are a body pf people who enjoy demos. The cause is a side issue. This was an opportunity to have a go at Police. Dick is no hard line Commissioner. The converse actually, proven by the crime laded sink estates where her officers have no back up at all especially from their bosses. Many there will be there at airport runway extentions, oil refineries, anything nuclear, police brutality wherever in the world, political asylum cases.

Rabid feminists = women. Oh yes, including the future Queen of England. Aren’t women entitled to demand that the streets are safe from attack ? I think they have a very valid point. Statues get more protection than women. Well done to the hotels who have offered practical help.

We all expect the streets to be safe, men women children etc. By calling all men potential assailants, how is that going to help?

There’s some footage on the other site of an incident in Neath last week where 2 people were slashed with a knife after a disturbance in the Town Centre, incidents like that and the murder of Sarah Everard are horrific and should never happen. The scum who commit these offences should be locked up for a long time and in the case of Ms Everard if guilty the guy should never be let out again. The Chair of the Met Police Federation said 26 police officers were assaulted and spat at last night, if that’s the case (and I have no reason to doubt him) then it paints a slightly different picture of events. From what I have seen most of the people who attended were well behaved, but it doesn't take many to spoil it for others and there are also reports circulating in the media of chanting, pushing and objects being thrown at police. Hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of it in due course when the investigations report. [Post edited 14 Mar 2021 17:57]

Why did these people attend knowing it was against current Covid restrictions? I'd hazard a guess, rent a mob

Should of all been locked up, there was an online version for people to show their condolences. That said if it wasn’t for a few left wing types inciting the police it would of been peaceful, you’d swear a few had pre planned it & they should be ashamed they tarnished what would of been a peaceful vigil for the tragic death of a young woman. Ms Dick for all her faults should not resign over this.

Exactly, it was a vigil, no need for people to try to make speeches from the bandstand.
