![]() Monday, 9th Aug 2010 16:38 by Col Following on from media speculation earlier in the day, Dale have signed City midfielder Andrew Tutte on loan. Dale boss Keith Hill has added to his ranks today with the loan signing of Manchester City youngster Andrew Tutte, The 19 year old was one just a handful of youngsters at Eastlands to be given a first team squad number. He comes with high regard with one appearance for the England U-20 squad last season, and a further five appearances at U-19 level the season before. Speculation in pre-season was that Tutte would be loaned out to a Championship club, so its quite a coup that Dale have persuaded the powers at be to let him come to a League One side. The following was posted on one forum by a City supporter with regards to Tutte: I'll start with Tutte, as I think he is the better of the two. He was part of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2008. He is a central midfielder who likes to keep things simple in the midfield with simple passes and nice movements. He bases this style of play from players like Xabi Alonso, who he looks at a lot. He very recently signed a one year deal with the club, so Mancini must think he has something. He's currently part of the squad on the US Tour, and has played a part in all three of City's games so far, including a start tonight against the NY Red Bulls. I doubt Mancini would be giving him a chance in games like this against good teams like Sporting and the Red Bulls if he didn't believe he had any potential, as it wouldn't be worth it. The only competitive time he's been near the first team is when he was an unused sub against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup in January. I would defintely expect him to play football at a competitive level next season, although maybe more likely on loan at a League One or Championship side. But, Mancini may choose to play him in Carling Cup games, and we've seen he isn't scared to play youth if he thinks it's good enough. I reckon in the future he can be a good player for a Championship or maybe even a Premiership side.
