7 sackings , 6 voluntarily dismissed with one which is the topic of discussion, I'm not happy if what is being believed to be happening is the case , only because if he goes it just means yet more disruption tempered that the Club could see money coming in should WBA buy out his contract but then we have to replace him and that may require the Club paying out someone else's contract. | |

Loyalty is a very pliable concept these days. A person will be claiming they'd need to be dragged out kicking and screaming one week and be gone the next.
Disloyalty doesn't need an excuse, it is what it is. And when the next club is offering a good chunk more in wages, who expects any different than a goodbye? It doesn't often happen that manager turns down a big pay rise, specially if it means a jump to a bigger club, or even just moving up a division as when LW came to us.

When Brendan took Swansea, playing beautiful football, to the Premier league he had multiple offers to leave. He had a gentleman's agreement with the chairman to do one season in the premier league at least and signed a contract with a whopping £7m buyout clause.
It happened, Brendan had an ego and told the chairman he would only break his contract for a big club. Liverpool came in paid the £7m and everyone was happy. Martin is not of the same class as Brendan. Neither is Williams it seems.
Gentleman's agreements count when class people cooperate and managers have the talent to match. I doubt Martin will be trusted again in the Premier league. The odds were i jhis favour with the parachutes. Al he had to do was beat Leeds in a one off. [Post edited 31 Dec 2024 23:46]
