| Forum Thread | Was Ken Gude in Swansea working on the buyout? at 11:16 24 Nov 2024
Ken Gude came here with a seemingly open brief of changing " club culture". Some of the less cerebral posters suggested he was here to lower his golf handicap. No mention of Mr Gude recently. Was he working on the sale ? Could it be his job is now done? Changing club culture. Well that seems to have occured to be fair. [Post edited 24 Nov 11:17]

| Forum Thread | Wales u19 look a strong group. at 14:24 17 Nov 2024
They will come second in their group haven beaten Scotland. The group is France Scotland Wales Lichtenstein. Wales lost 2-1 to France and gave them a tough game. There have been some tonkngs in the past varying from 8-0 to 4-0 etc so this was a good effort. Swansea players in this group would have been Margetson who was injured. Iwan Morgan did not make the squad so must no be impressing at Brentford. The French manager said this Jean-Luc Vannuchi: "We started on the flat and we're attacking the mountain, we got over one today that wasn't easy, a very good Wales team that gave us a hard time. They were better in the first half, we were much better in the second and that's the main thing, because we had to win. That's not enough to qualify, we'll need a result against Scotland. A draw is enough but we're not going to play for it, we'll have to play a big game. We were tossed around in the first half, they logically opened the scoring but we were lucky to come back quickly. Above all, we were much more impenetrable in the second half, we decided to let them have the ball and be solid and united. We managed to get ahead of them and we even had chances to widen the gap but we didn't do it and in the end, there was a dangerous set piece in stoppage time. It was a close call, I said it wouldn't be an easy first round. Now we need one last positive result to finish the job" Swansea players in the group are Margetson Jacob Cook and Thomas Woodward who missed out.iestym Jones possibly.. [Post edited 17 Nov 14:29]

| Forum Thread | Can Yates still be a star at Swansea. at 13:15 12 Nov 2024
Jerry Yates has scored 50 goals over three seasons and three this season more than any Swansea striker including Saturday's arcrobatic finish. He is not a target man and like Bafatimi Gomis may not have been played optimally by Williams and Duff. He is Swansea s most elite striker. This is what the Derby boss stated. ( Taken from FLW) ""Yates has shown over the last couple of weeks that he really is a talented player, and he's capable of scoring goals at this level. He just needs adequate support. "I think when he played alongside Dajaune Brown at Coventry, it gave him the space to be able to express himself, and although Brown didn't really have a great game himself, what he did do was occupy the centre-half, so Yates could benefit from that. It definitely helped Yates in that respect." Play him properly alongside Vipotnik and he will score plenty. [Post edited 12 Nov 13:17]

Now Trump is promoting a trade war and increased taxes on imports. Brexit was for UK to be in the drive for free global trade. There is also a concern of getting US permission to use UK missiles in Ukraine as it involves somewhere in the engineering US [Post edited 6 Nov 11:25]

| Forum Thread | Match stats aligned. Is this significant? at 15:29 2 Nov 2024
Under early Martin games the possession stats were out of harmony with the shot shots on goal, touches in the box, corners goals etc. Swansea had 60% possession but only 30-40 % of other parameters. Swansea were mid table only though the extraordinary exploits of Piroe with his XG. I compared the two Millwall losses over 5 months and stated no progress. What was apparent wad that the stats for the recent game were more aligned. 60% possession 60% shots corners etc. Only goals were out of synchronicity. In the May 2024 game Millwall had more shots and corners with 35% possession. Today all the parameter aligned 60% possession 60% shots on and off target and 60% goals (66%). This alignment has taken over three years. This is what happens with Man city Liverpool and Chelsea who dominate all parameters. Under Martin the parameter were often inverted. Cabango and Darling is the first really solid CB pairing perhaps? I s do not claim to be a technical expert and never played much but the three years of possession football must start having an effect eventually. If a team has 60%of all these parameters with competent CB and forwards 2-1 wins are more likely than not in my simple logic. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/clygn598exwt#MatchStats [Post edited 2 Nov 15:34]

| Forum Thread | Groundhog day: It is not about recruitment. at 11:51 27 Oct 2024
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c4n106r775zt Six months ago I attended this game and was very disappointed at the lack of movement. Cullen was blotted out and Ronald the only threat. I had high hopes for Williams to build on Martin Ball and add more penetration. It is not going to happen. Same teams Same managers Four new players Same result Same late goal Same mistake Same goslscorer Six months player changes no progress. Harris out thought Williams twice. Rinse and repeat. Easy. | Forum Thread | Tough day for Bobby Theo and Rio at 12:14 23 Oct 2024
https://dragonsoccer.co.uk/newsite/index.php?id=999 This was coming after Bulgaria shipped 9 and Wales could only manage a 2-2.against the Bulgars. Thee young fellows exposed to elite footballers at an early age must be good for them. It is always tough for Wales and Bulgaria as the talent is spread thin compared to Spain. Good to see healthy Swansea contribution. This is normally the status quo which makes the Wales u19 beating Italy 4-3 quite some achievement. Margetson and Woodward. [Post edited 23 Oct 12:19]

| Forum Thread | The next Wayne Routledge. Is there anyone like this? at 12:31 22 Oct 2024
I must admit I miss Wayne Routledge playing for Swansea. He was a joy to watch and I was always hopeful he could do something special. The winner at Leeds from nowhere, springs to mind. Swansea do not have a lot of money and the club has gone for young 22 year olds some who are thriving and others struggling to nake an impact. Wayne despite his prodigious talent could not make an impression either in struggling teams and his talent was released when he joined Swansea at 26 as a lost soul. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_Routledge He was cheap to buy and his wages were not huge. He was behind Sinclair and Dyer in the pecking order. The Laudrup arrived. Boom. One player in this ilk might be Ben Woodburn. I know of him because he is Welsh but there might be many others who have been grinded into the ground by the EFL who w could be the next Routledge. Eom perhaps? |
| Forum Thread | Swansea young strikers on loan. at 16:30 21 Oct 2024
It is not a pretty picture. Maliq Cadogan National league is Payed 10, goals 0 assists 0 Josh Thomas League 2 Played 1, Goals 0 Assists 0. Josh is fit but does not make the squad while Congreve does. Mediocrity rules. |
| Forum Thread | Cullen misses another gold plated cross with his head. at 12:54 20 Oct 2024
I watched Cullen s debut v Palace in the league cup alongside Dan James under Potter. The kids played well. Tyler Reid put in a lovely Cross and it sort of hit Cullen and w ent for a corner. He was18-19.He was a not positioned to head the ball and if fact never looked confident. The ball dribbled for a goal kick. Only 18 at the time he had a few seasons to develop. Yesterday 7-8 years later Ronald got a cross in and again Cullen was not positioned and got under the ball and again never looked keen to bury it. Swansea city have never produced a quality centre forward in for the academy or CoE. Cullen is the best over 30 years and millions spent. If I was Coleman I would be asking the head of academy for an explanation. Mr Wright who I have a lot of respect for has been at the club a long time and can give background. This is high level games in one of Europe's big leagues. It may seem like picking on him but now there is nowhere to hide. How can a centre forward in the academy for 14 years not be able to head the ball on target from 5 yards? Kuharevych would have buried that chance. [Post edited 20 Oct 13:18]
