Wouldn't be surprised if all the global logistics issues have delayed the kit. Even in normal years we've occasionally had delays in deliveries etc.
Also maybe a summer kit launch brings with it an additional day of making money. Have some players there, put some stuff on for the kids etc. And buy your season ticket while you're here. Type of thing.

It’s just strange that for the last two seasons, irrespective of Covid, there’s been nothing in terms of involving fans either with voting or utilising the Trust. |  |

If anything, through lockdowns and uncertainty over the last couple of years, it could have enhanced fan and community involvement. It’s not that the kits haven’t been decent, more why not have that commitment to engage more around them? | |

I think it was the price of football podcast who said that the main kit suppliers are not doing individual designs unless you can guarantee a large manufacturing batch size. Clubs like Rochdale may now have to take a generic design & just stick on their badge logo's etc. May not be all suppliers but it could be a reason why |  | | |

Errea certainly don’t fit in that category. Bar the 15/16 and 17/18 home and third shirts, our designs have always been bespoke. They are the same across the board for all their clubs and although they do have template designs, these feature rarely as the three mentioned go against seventeen that have been exclusive to Dale over the last seven seasons. | |

The ability to have more say in the kit design was the major reason given for going with Errea.
I'm with ATP on this, I'd prefer a deal with a major brand. I don't have a window into the cost to Dale and % profit on Errea vs Nike/Adidas/Puma etc, but based on my own experience I'm much more likely to spend extra £££ on decent branded training/leisurewear than the shit Errea produce. I'll buy two shirts regardless, but I haven't bought any Errea training/leisurewear. Do we make enough on Errea shirts vs major brand to balance (potential) lost revenue on training/leisurewear?
I loved Hummel shirts since the 90's and they've made a comeback in the lower leagues in the past few years. I wouldn't be against a stint with them. | | | |

When we had Nike kits I spent a lot on t shirts, training tops etc, but as others have stated the quality of these under our more recent suppliers has been poor and I haven't bought any. | | | |

These conversations are why it’s been asked for years for more fan involvement around the kits/merchandise. There’s been lip service on certain occasions but it needs a proper plan which involves the Trust. | |

I believe the kit was going to have white shorts and black socks, a combination we haven't yet worn at home with blue/black shirts, but I don't know if that's still the plan due to some changes at the club.
Regardless, can we also remember that at no point has it been said the shirts will be blue and black stripes. It has always been stated that is the colour scheme, not a specific design. |  |

I work in this industry, was at adidas just over 10 years ago and remember the teamwear guys talking about approaching Rochdale back then, agree it would have been cool to have the 3 stripes on our kits.
In the UK pretty much all the major sports brands use a specialist teamwear licensee to manage the distribution and sales/marketing of their club kit sponsorships at our level, and I think it's generally the case that the lower down the pyramid you go the less scope for using the in house brand HQ design/devpt teams on bespoke product collections - I think adidas use Specialist Sports, Nike Zelus, Puma Genesis, New Balance EZ Teamsports, Umbro GLD etc. I've worked for New Balance most of my life so would quite like to see the NB logo on a Dale kit one day! | | | |

Have to be honest ,I am sick of the blue / black kits , they are awful under our crappy lights and from a marketing perspective, nothing out of the ordinary. I said a while ago that if it must be blue can we have a bright blue like French Racing Blue / Bugatti Blue that will at least stand out under the lights?

You don’t mess about with club colours. It’s sort of like the rules. The only “ dark” strip in recent years was the 20/21 one with black shorts and socks which, when allied with the black sleeves on the shirt was probably too dark overall. Then again the club chose that with no fan input and it’s a lesson learnt.
On the marketing perspective, we are the only club in England to use blue/black/white as a regular colour scheme. It’s up to the club to capitalise on that. | |

Blue black and white is pretty unique. I wouldn't mind us throwing in some red now and again as we've done in the past (90s patterned home shirts). Doesn't have to always be stripes either. | |
