We have survived for over 100 years without Bottomley. We are almost in as much peril as we have ever been with him at the helm. The Directors should make the role of CEO redundant, with immediate effect and then seek to appoint someone in a different, newly defined role to take the club forward.
Whichever way it happens, Bottomley needs to be removed from the club at the earliest opportunity. He has no credibility, no respect,no-one has confidence in him and he is an embarrassment.
I can't understand why he hasn't been dismissed, or even done the honourable and decent thing and handed in his resignation. He can/will do more damage the longer he stays there and as more stories are now emerging it is creating more waves and creating more anger.
Just begone FFS.
I should think that DB will be waiting for a pay off unless the club can produce any sackable proof.....
My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

42 people?
Interestingly, in an article written by Shelina Begum of the MEN (which I think was published in Business Insider North West) on 13th August 2019, it was claimed he was "group sales director and had up to 85 people working under him".
I say interestingly because on 16th August the article was edited to correct the previous assertion that he had founded Rochdale Ambassadors which, coincidentally, was challenged on here at the time.
He seems to make a habit of exaggerating his own importance, wasn't there some sort of claim made at a Wembley game that he was something he wasn't and wasn't he reportedly the "owner" of Rochdale AFC according to another article about him?

He's certainly been cited as the Chairman of the club in articles, which he's made no effort to correct; the journo may have made that assumption but wouldn't they have clarified it with him?
It's been my contention for a while that his aim in putting himself in the media spotlight, especially during the pandemic, was to position himself for a role in the EFL hierarchy. Suffice to say any notions he may have had on that score (if he did) have been rightly stamped on

I've seen the owner one, probably in a couple of places.

This is probably the right time to share this from the Beanyman News Youtube channel:
Again, in the public domain and 3 minutes and 40 seconds long. It's only had 21 views before today; I'd imagine that will go up a bit.
It was released on 25 September 2020, just as a second national lockdown was being contemplated.
The narrative to the video from Beanyman News is: Interview with Rochdale FC CEO David Bottomley on the potential for an EFL rescue package.
He says the delay to fans returning to stadiums is an expensive blow for EFL clubs, highlights the club were already set to £2m in matchday revenue had they had a reduced capacity allowed in, says he believes a rescue package will be forthcoming but says the Premier League have no right to dictate how clubs spend that money
Fact check it as you go along and see what inaccuracies you can spot given all we know now.

Match Report on Last Nights EGM
The majority of Shareholders lined up against a limp looking Board side. The ever hard working Trust set the tone early on, 4 motions dismissed within the opening minutes. This knocked the Board further onto the back foot, with Bottomley and Rawlinson in particular looking past their sell by date.
As the game progressed it was clear that class and integrity are indeed permanent, form ( and position) are temporary. Step forward JOHN SMALLWOOD, who with his action of resigning over various contracts / employment issues showed his integrity, then with a few deft comments showed his class by asking question of the Boards FD regarding numbers, Pockney was left floundering in his attempt not to let his Captain Bottomley down, but it was too late, Smallwood landed a critical blow for integrity and transparency - a lesson Pockney will need to learn very quickly if he is to survive at this level.
As the Shareholders retook control of the Club ( and the game) it was left to a long time Dale fan from a previous era to show the new boys and a few of the old boys how it should be done. The Overcoat men pondered, and sighed, but TRACKSUITMAN TREVOR BUTTERWORTH drove Shareholders forward with passion and intelligence. A man few have heard speak before as he keeps his words for behind closed doors, but bye heck, did the folk of Rochdale AFC see how things used to be run when BANGER BUTTERWORTH was around. The hairs on the back on my neck are still standing on end hearing him say " its not Man Utd, its Bloody Rochdale", " you should all be ashamed". A great performance from a classy man. Butterworth was clearly riled by the Board and was more than up for the challenge, perhaps he was also showing the Overcoat Men that they were not the only players in Dales survival over many years
TRACKSUIT MAN, I salute you and your efforts, and I doff my Baseball cap to you
SMALLWOOD, with such levels of integrity you should be the new Chairman !
A very accurate summation JPS. Obviously you have an eye for detail. Hence the 9 likes including mine at the time.
Hold on. You're not a shareholder!
How did you have access via zoom?
Which mole gave you unlawful access?
And why put John Smallwood's name in capitals?
Anyone would have thought it was Smallwood posting this accurate report.
Oh. Penny's just dropped. Your pretence is finally outed.
Like I've said to you before I'm not standing for anymore club bullshittery!
Well there we have it. JPS has once again had old posts come back to bite him on the arse.
I’m not up to speed with these matters but surely a club employee dishing out zoom codes to non-shareholders for an EGM is quite a serious matter. Gross misconduct perhaps?
Why couldn’t we all have one if it’s not against the rules or is it the ‘us and them’ thing again?

365 days on from the OP and a year is indeed a long time in football.
In footballing terms it was men against boys and 3 of the flat back 5 didn't make it.
David Roger Bottomley - has a dedicated thread of his own and has been outed as a tool of the highest order.
Graham Frank Rawlinson - disappeared into oblivion and has not been seen at Rochdale since. His company - Westrose Leisure Limited was dissolved a couple of weeks ago on 10 May 2022.
Nicholas James Grindrod - the forgotten man of the trio who left in August 2021 for "personal reasons" having joined the Board a few days before the EGM.
As R17 says - I don't think any have been seen at Spotland on the terraces since!

Rawlinson was confronted by an irate fan tonight in the Flying Horse and was told he was a thieving git who should be ashamed at robbing Dale to profit his pubs. Said fan told me he came within an inch of punching his lights out!
Rawlinson's response was "when the truth comes out you'll thank me".

That man is a disease.
As a former local publican (albeit now with a recently dissolved company) Rawlinson needs to tread carefully and avoid antagonising local people in prominent local hostelries.
I mentioned on another thread Fat Pat's sister Chunky Carla and her coverage of the town akin to Cloughie's bike. Carla reckons Rawlinson got off lightly vs Bottomley last year and that the only the latter's desire for the limelight means he got the thin edge of the wedge vs a man who sat in the background.
They do say as you get older that "you're one year closer to being back in the nappy." Graham turns 68 later this month; Carla might have to get out that photo book "best of" moments for the next masonic lodge do. Carla knows that Rawlinson is a man who pampers, when amongst friends.
I'm sure though when the truth comes out he will thank her as will the Nationals.

All life long fans!
Frank used to boast to me that he scrambled in for free under the Pearl Street fences when he was a kid.
Some fooking fan! Robbed us when he was in short pants too!
