Losing the Will 13:54 - Jul 21 with 4970 viewsGVJack

I normally love looking at the threads on here at this time of year, getting excited for the unknown of the season ahead. But just not got the mojo yet this summer.

Looking at the first page in this board today (excluding pinned posts) there are 33 topics, 8 of which are directly linked to Swansea football.

Those 8 are:-

1 about a new kit
2 about ex players
1 about pricing
1 about a friendly match and post match interview with Manager*
1 about potential friendlies in the future
1 about a possible new striker*
1 about our squad strength*

So of those 8 only 3* I am finding relevant to give me any sense of excitement next year.

What's happening? I think the couple of new boys signed last week are good signings and will strengthen the squad, but we're still looking at a mid-top half team at best next season. Maybe the board/owners are content with that. But if we want to make a real go at it and look to finish in the top 6 to have any chance of promotion, we need 2-3 QUALITY signings in soon to kick start the season and find some early momentum to get the confidence up!

Just too add - this isn't a dig and the posters/moderators/contributors to this forum, just how I'm feeling with so little coming out of the club at the moment. Seems to be a real lack of ambition!

My comment about united was more a perception about the club than the fans.

Back then we weren't able to get the thoughts and outlook of so many fans that the internet has brought.

Even now we only read a fraction of the fanbase, even though back in the day, when life was simpler, there would have been divisions.

For the pessimistic 5 to 1 for relagation
For the optimistic 33 to 1 to win the league with sky offering 4 places each way mcburnie and Rushy back will have a bit of that

if we don't bring in a decent keeper and striker, well maybe the pessimists win?

If we can't keep the oppo out and strugge to score, it's a highly toxic situation.

Not even our owners are incompetent enough not to address those positions, are they?

Plenty of time, Luke didn’t get his way with getting everyone in, and it looks like a couple of players haven’t made the trip, as yet. Bit concerning.

There’s not a lot he can do. He won’t resign as Potter and Martin didn’t. Cooper effectively did to be fair, but his stock was as high as it was going to get with us.

I do have faith they will act though. We wouldn’t have signed Eom and Franco if there wasn’t budget for a first choice keeper and striker as well.

Football has changed and we need to change with it or get left behind. We are in the time of the Internet reading the local paper for information are of times long gone. To compare is quite ridiculous.

Whilst the media has changed even back then the papers werent full of stuff relating to the club whihc is the point I was trying to make.
Yes in these days of the internet mmeans of communicationg with other fans is easier availability of imformation is much better but in terms of activity at the club things will be mainly the same in close season as it was back in those halcyon days.

At this stage,I can’t imagine anyone seriously being “ optimistic” about this coming season. Its ok to post that say on a public forum but deep down ,all must accept by now,we are run by a shower of clowns in suits .
We can but hope, but their track record is there for all to see .

I’ve only got faith that they will bring a keeper and a striker in. All that’s going to give us is a starting eleven which is an absolute minimum requirement.

Even then, we’ve got one striker with Cullen who isn’t a loan frontman and Kukharevych who Williams, Duff and Sheehan wouldn’t touch with a bargepole, as well as two established centre backs with Naughton as cover.

I don’t have faith we’re going to challenge for promotion or anything like that.
