HMV Returns To Southampton on 15:27 - Sep 23 with 1383 views | TripleNiemi | If this is true then happy days as it does provide an opportunity to browse some 'physical music merch' and purchase direct rather than online. Must admit though i am a little surprised as i thought the whole Music merch scene was dead on its knees (especially HMV). No doubt there will be more on the 'electronic' gaming side of things though tbh. Has to be good news though

There is never anybody in it. They have a thing called the 'geek retreat' as well. Far more teenagers frequent that. They play board games in it. Given the price of a vinyl LP these days I am not surprised
HMV Returns To Southampton on 22:21 - Sep 23 with 1258 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | I don't understand the point of HMV, especially on the high street!? I get home "Alexa, play blah blah by blah" or "play 80s music", whatever, all there on demand. I get in the car "car play 70s music" or "car play radio x", it's all there on demand. I actually threw all my CDs away, no one wanted them so I tipped the entire lot into a skip, DVDs and Blurays too. It's so nice to have none of that crap in the house and just demand it instantly. Edit: Actually saying that, my son only last week found a halloween CD in the halloween box. He asked what it was and I said it was halloween music. "Can we play it?" .... "er, no, we have nothing to play it on, even the cars don't have CD players anymore". [Post edited 23 Sep 2021 22:24]

Independent record shops are thriving, as are boutique Blu-ray labels. HMV’s mistake was positioning itself as a megastore and selling high priced merchandise and poor quality tat. A smaller shop should help reposition themselves. [Post edited 25 Sep 2021 7:31]
