Ian Paisley RIP on 13:36 - Sep 12 with 3148 views | dickythorpe | "Many innocent lives have been RRRUUUIINNEDDD by the IRA" was his catchphrase it seems when I was a kid in the 80's Nearly 20 years ago he came to Burry Port to give a talk, the place was packed and crowds stood outside. RIP
Ian Paisley RIP on 13:53 - Sep 12 with 3129 views | oh_tommy_tommy | Hated by the Catholics . But finally put the icing on top of the peace process .
| |
Ian Paisley RIP on 14:32 - Sep 12 with 3099 views | trampie | A despicable man that tried his best and succeeded to a degree to keep a country artificially dived with some of it ruled by immigrant colonialists, he loved the English crown and all it stands for, he fought the freedom fighters, his place in history won't be as large as McGuinness or Adams from his era which probably hurt him in his latter years in his old age I bet.

Ian Paisley RIP on 15:36 - Sep 12 with 3046 views | perchrockjack | Us older ones will remember a large man in a light grey mac singing hymns at rallies and GSTQ with gusto and then ripping into all who disagreed with him. Catholics seen basically as trash unworthy of Ulster traditions and those who deserved subservient jobs because of their religion. We saw and heard hate, and bile masquerading as politics and human rights bascially denied for centuries. He singlehandedly delayed any chance of peace and did nowt for years but ensure catholics were treated second rate-if they were lucky. He brought to the fore killers like McGuiness and Adams who needed to nothing but ask catholics to watch and listen to PAISLEY. People dies because of his intransigence including the mainland. He was poison ,utter filth and only in later years did he see a chink of light in his prejudicial attitude. Lets not kid ourselves here. He held back the province for decades

That's rubbish, Perch. He lobbied on behalf of the Catholic constituents who came to his surgeries with every ounce of the same zeal with which he would publically attack the Roman clergy. He attacked ideas not individuals. You knew exactly where you were with him, like it or not he was a man of unbending principle. He lived what he believed, he was what he preached. In the world of politics that's not something you happen across too often.
| An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it. |

Interesting ... There's more to most people in the public eye than the 1 dimensional images the media love to portray ...

Ian Paisley RIP on 19:36 - Sep 12 with 2845 views | exiledclaseboy | It must've really stuck in his craw to lead the first power-sharing government with Sinn Fein. But he did it anyway. Deserves credit for that. I've met his son, an MP himself now. A very nice man, much more softly spoken than his father, although that's not difficult.

Glad Hitler is dead. Glad Thatcher is dead. Glad Bin Laden is dead etc... Who cares? People who were c*nts in life do not get let off the hook just because they are now 6 feet under. F*ck them. World is better without people who inflicted misery upon thousands, sowed the seeds of hate and/or murdered millions etc etc. Paisley was a filthy vicious sectarian bag of shite and a right-wing Brit nationalist ... I say F*CK HIM. You are far too PC... get a grip mun.

Would you have killed all these people earlier if it had been possible? (Not you yourself of course)

Not sure if I fully understand the question but I'll give it a crack... If you mean earlier in their lives before they became c*nts then NO, but if you mean earlier as in whilst they were in their careers as c*nts then YES.
