I've no idea, and that wasn't the point of my post. It was more to see whether or not this is actual hypocrisy or a changed opinion. By the same token, You couldn't definitively state that there isn't new information he has been made aware of

I understand your point but given Starmer has reneged on so many previous statements and commitments, including promises made in his election manifesto, I find it impossible to come to any other conclusion.

6 months ago was worst govertment in my lifetime and worst opposition, they've just switched roles now

Labour have been so disapointing and have opened the door to Farage being the next PM

The left are an absolute shambles these days, that should be where my political views go but they have left working people behind and I'm not sure what they stand for anymore.
At least with Trump he does what mad shit he said he was going to do rather than get in power and do something different, people who voted for him are getting what they voted for. You can't say that with our lot

This Labour Party are nowhere near the left, they are not even socialist any more. They are neo Liberal Thatcherites overseen by Blair and Mandelson, funded by Israel and US healthcare providers. The writing was on the wall when Starmer was parachuted into the PLP and almost immediately set about sabotaging the upcoming election and once elected leader, set about removing all traces of the left/ socialism.
If I was to reproduce that 2019 PLP manifesto with all acknowledgements to Labour removed, you wouldn't doubt it if I said it was recent manifesto from a Scandinavian political party.

fair enough - and I wasn't having a pop. And I agree he has disappointed in the way he has started his Premiership. Regardless of political leanings, this has to be one of the worst starts to a government I can remember - particularly shocking when you consider how low the bar was for then when they came in

A third runway sounds like a good idea to me. I’m sure there are plenty of reasons it’s not as mentioned above but three runways for the country’s main airport doesn’t sound excessive or unnecessary to me.

Cards on the table, live near the flight path. My understanding is that it won't be until the end of the parliament before they are able to actually put anything through so we are talking at least a decade before this happens. I get the view this is less about Heathrow and more about driving inward investment through optics by showing foreign investors they are ploughing ahead with changes to planning.

If they were being overtly political as the right would often be they shooting for Gatwick where are far more Tory / Lib Dem constituencies dont be surprised if they flip to that come the end of the parliament

No, it's not.

When the fascists come for you, then you will see the difference. And no, Stalin was not left, just like Hitler was not. Those killers were fascists. These lot are big business whores, not quite fascists, but when the crunch time comes, they will side with them. Farage is only waiting for it to happen and to step in.

A real Labour government after WW2 gave us the NHS, Wages Council (the precursor to the minimum wage), Nationalised Railways (as they were private before), and 1 million new homes in their first year of office — yes, in the first year not five years later in the first year of office!

Remember, the economy was way worse just after WW2 than it is now. Not only that, there was no infrastructure like materials readily available (all used up by the war), fewer tradespeople (dead or injured in the war), and none of the new fancy tech that we have today (computers to aid design, mega cranes on mass, mega trucks to carry it all around, mega drills to put in foundations and the list goes on) and the super big one, absolutely no money as the country was totally bankrupt. There is no excuse for "we have no money" because a previous REAL Labour govt did it. It's not fantasy; they did this, and it's already proven as being possible.

That's the difference between the left and right. When the REAL left gets lucky and is in government, you get all that and more. Now, if you look at Starmer, his government has promised 1.5 million homes over 5 years. This was a promise. But even that is a pathetic 300k per year, and they cannot even do that—only around 200k this year if they are lucky. That's how you know this lot is NOT the REAL Labour left (apart from a few lefties at the back whom the press slags off all the time).

Even if you're a Tory, you should ask this question of this government because we all should ask this, which is ...

"Why can you not build these homes like the post-WW2 Labour government actually did in one year?"

We should all ask this question of this government and keep asking it and all the time. If you're on the right and don't ask this, then I shall call you out as a snowflake who is more interested in someone's personal organ plumbing than putting plumbers to work on the economy.

I said it before, and I shall repeat it (and I said it first before the election); you cannot trust Starmer as he's more of a liar than Boris. He is a corporate whore and liar. He lied to his party, he lied to the country, and when we go to war against whomever, he will lie again.

That is why I call him TFS (Two-Faced Starmer) and you should too!

Yet another act of utter hypocrisy by Starmer. He backed the action against the 3rd runway 4 or 5 years ago saying climate change was the priority. What an absolute charlatan he's turned out to be.

There was of course massive rebuilding after WW2, but one million houses were not built in the first twelve months after Clement Attlee's entry into office. Step forward John Maynard Keynes (Liberal), and the American Taxpayer, who between them drew up and paid for the building programme of 1.1 million homes in the years 1945/51, about ten per cent were prefab huts with another ten per cent little better, in fact some just bolted together metal sheets bound for battle ships left over when hostilities ceased. In '51, Churchill was re-elected and in the next decade the Conservative's managed to deliver 300,000 new houses every year. Now I find it strange that people would argue over who, what, why and where, because my personal view is that this rebuilding was another wonderful example of the British war effort, blown to pieces yet back on its feet and at the forefront of industry, fashion, music etc within twenty years.
Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, The Mongols, Spanish Inquisition et al - really couldn't care less about the terminology, political or otherwise, wolves are notorious for wearing sheep's clothing.

The reality of communism and facism is the same - totalitarianism and rows of graves of whichever demographic doesn't fit in.
'But real communism hasn't been tried'.
Yeah, it has. Theoretical communism is what you read about. Real communism is what actually happens.

It butts directly up to the western fence of where we used to train, and I believe Wycombe train there now. So probably won't be much use for anything other than BigJetTV if this ever gets built.

And if this thread goes the usual way then I'll just delete it guys, please don't put me through it again. Everybody knows what everybody's respective politics are on here by now, it really, really doesn't need a 12-page rehash.

How's this for a plan.
Stop building new motorways to London.
Stop building new railways to London,
Stop building new houses in the South- East,
and don't expand any London airports.
Increase road, rail, airport capacity in the South West & Wales (Fishguard to Bristol), Northern powerhouse (Between Liverpool and Hull).
Oh and while we are at it, can we please stop importing cheap foreign labour to do it and invest in our own youth to be carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, painters, etc, etc, etc.
oh and another note, when i say foreign i do NOT mean non-white and when i say our own youth i don't mean just white before some rolls out the usual fascist, racist, nazi, drivel.

It’s £21.90 for a return from Shenfield to anywhere in zone 1 on the Elizabeth line and there is normally 3 of us in the car,so it isn’t very economical to use that route. And the parking is probably the same as we pay at Redbridge station.

What a great incentive not to use trains!

Personally I'd support a charge on all vehicles entering London and use the revenue to subsidise public transport, including improving facilities for parking at stations.
