Siggy replacement(s) 10:34 - Jul 13 with 20080 views | LeonWasGod | Ok then, as it looks certainly he's off how do we adjust or who can we bring in: - to give us around 10-15 assists a season - to score about 8-10 goals a season - with a wand of a foot for set pieces - to do the dirty work running their b0ll0x off to closing down across the front line I'm struggling.

You've got to be realistic with the quality of the "back up's" mate. We aint Man City or Spurs. Who do you think is going to want to come and sit on the bench of Swansea City? Genuine question? I think both our back up's are fine myself.

Definitely. We can't afford a squad of £10m players. We have to compromise somewhere.

Siggy replacement(s) on 11:37 - Jul 13 by londonlisa2001 | People are seriously losing the plot. I like Siggy - he was our best player last season in terms of goals created and scored. I am not one of the 'sell him' camp at all. But anything over £40m for him is absolute genius. If it starts getting to £50m it's insane. 14 teams finished above us last season, none of which had Siggy. People are beginning to talk as though he's Messi (and the Everton fans are even worse - they should be fuming at spending that on him, not because they don't have the money, but because of what they could buy that's so much better for so much less). It was reported last night that Everton thought they had him. I imagine that was the £40m bid. Siggy says he won't go on tour, thinking it forces our hand to accept. We then turn the bid down and call the bluff of both Siggy and Everton which is frankly a ballsy call. Let's see what happens. But if we get say £45m for him, if we can't improve the team for that, including his loss, we have zero clue. |
That's assuming the owners put the money into the team rather than take a fair chunk to recoup their original investment. As they're venture capitalists I think it would be bit naive to think there would be a huge amount of cash going on new players.

I don't think it's that easy to just take money out of the club. My guess is they keep us ticking over and make their killing when they sell us on.
Siggy replacement(s) on 23:15 - Jul 13 with 3325 views | DJack | One thing that no one has mentioned... This £40million bid may not have been turned down on the amount but more on how it is structured e.g. £20million in cash over 50 years and the remainder when aliens land on the planet to bless the marriage of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

Time will tell. Any decent signings that pay off are either Altman / Clement and Trust fully involved. Any bad signings were Jenkins' ( I am not a fan of him ) and Trust were not asked. Comedy season begins.

Siggy replacement(s) on 00:32 - Jul 14 with 3202 views | Kerouac | At no.10 somebody like; Hakim Ziyech, Ryad Boudebouz, Robert Snodgrass, Nacer Chadli, Jota. I like the idea of Jonathan Viera on the wing though. He is obviously on the same wavelength as Mesa, I'm a big believer that a good football team is like a good band...you need to have an understanding, chemistry. The overall plan should be to use this money to buy at least 3 players who can all play behind a striker, either on the wing or central. One of them should be a free-kick specialist. Ship out Montero, Barrow and Dyer to accommodate.

Siggy replacement(s) on 03:11 - Jul 14 with 3100 views | dameedna | Viera has a good understanding with Mesa . Like you I am not sure he is up to leading a team in the EPL at the No.10 slot and he is no Michu. Viera can play both wings and maybe No.10 so would be a good buy as covers a number of positions. However I am not sure if he is on the radar and might be he wants to stay put. There is a lot of good about Spanish league and a number of players who prefer a regular start there to a tough time elsewhere. I would be happier with signing players with EPL experience or going with what we have so that they stay. If pushed, I would target Chadli, Snodgrass etc in place of Viera and Ziyech. Just on the basis that as with Cork, Siggurdson (and of course Lllorente if he goes) are proven in the EPL. Baston is probably the biggest example of how one decision can lead to relegation form. Besides the manager of course has to be a one off (prays - darn yanks, will take a long time for them to live that one down but lets not go there). We hardly present a glowing picture of stability to any manager or player, let's hope we don't see any more walk out the door or in Gylfi's case try to walk through a closed door.
Siggy replacement(s) on 10:26 - Jul 14 with 2926 views | Swan91 |
Would be good if we sell Gylfi and sell/loan out 2 of our wingers (montero and barrow ideally) and used all that money to sign both Hakim Ziyech and Jonathan Viera. Would cost alot of money but with those additions to our team we would have a killer squad.

Siggy replacement(s) on 12:37 - Jul 14 with 2677 views | ABERSWAN | Is it not worth Clement ringing up his mate Carlo, and asking if any one from Bayern, fancies a game down in south Wales. They have just got Rodriguez in,and the likes of Robben and Ribery are going to find themselves sitting on the bench a lot this season. Not long term prospects I know,as they are both in their 30's,but no harm in asking.

I see you're point about speaking to Carlo but the players you mentioned play in a different position to Rodriguez. Rodriguez plays in attacking midfield where as Ribery & Robben both play out wide. They have just signed Serge Gnabry so maybe worth asking about a loan?

look fellas this is how you replace siggy you go 4 3 3 we have plenty of midfielders for the 3 britton mesa fer carroll ki, it's the 3 up to that's the issue llorentte is the striker , ayew can play out wide so we need 1 more winger / wide forward . the obvious one is mirallas as part of the deal to take siggy to everton if not either have a look at that chadli or go for young Roberts at man city simples
