Always thought Slade was a massive British band but always thought it was odd where they were placed on this bill. Would never have expected BOC to be more popular, in this country at least, and even Whitesnake in '81 were nowhere near as huge I wouldn't have thought.

This was my first ever proper gig, i was and still am a big ac/dc fan. We went up on the train on the friday, and came back on the sunday evening, no tent or sleeping bag haha, and slept? under the large tyre bridge that cross,s the track. Blackfoot were brill, i can remember lying under a lorry trailer listening to slade as it was raining, not a fan of theirs so to speak, but noddys voice was huge. Noddys autobiography is a really good read tho. Remember whitesnake going down a storm, and ac/dc, well i was in a state of amazement for two weeks after lol.

I'm to young for that one, it was ten years or so after that that my gig days began. Just thought it was a slightly odd line-up, or at least where Slade were on it.

I was there and the place only came to life when Slade took the stage. They were just starting to re-establish themselves after a few years out of favour ..... I think it was Reading the year before that put them back in the spotlight.
When they (or their roadies) started chucking bog rolls into the crowd, the place went mental and the air was just full of bottles and crap and we just stood there cowering with our heads covered for ages. Always been a great live band but never seen them without Noddy.

There's a story going round that Noddy Holder was very nearly the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. That would have been interesting.
