He's worth 15 - 25 million more than the defenders who have gone for £75 and £85m and will flourish at City.

Good luck to him. Fine player. Will he get a game if messi signs on free? One horse race for title. FFP? Laughable!!

Grealish should develop more under Pep and hopefully become and even better player. Mad amount of money though

You are not comparing like with like. McGinn is a fine midfielder but Grealish ( and it pains me to compliment him at all) is possibly the most creative player in the prem. Oh and John Terry was a top quality CB.
GREALISH - £100,000,000 on 23:25 - Aug 5 with 2602 views | bosh67 | I don't think he is over-rated. I think he is the real deal and a player who for me has a lot of attributes that both Beckham and Gaza had. I'm not saying he is as good as either, but he may well be sooner than later.

Obscene money, and yes agree re FFP. But a little context. Aguero was one of their highest earners...they had a sell on fee for Sancho...Bernardo and Laporte both looking to leave.

Thing is Ted that money comes from the public. If everyone gave up their pay TV and internet subscriptions and gave the money to the NHS - its sorted. Not going to happen is it, but its not Sky, BT, Man City's or the government's fault. [Post edited 6 Aug 2021 8:24]

Totally agree. Yes, City may have freed up some wages by off loading other players, but where do they get £100m from other than their owner's deep pockets? They can buy almost any player in the world with that financial muscle. Why bother developing any player when others can do that for you allowing you to simply grab them any summer you feel like? Nothing FAIR about any of this.

TV money, Prize money for winning the league, Champions league money for getting to the final.

Even when it's as big as £100M I would still bet that the transfer fee is small in comparison with City's wage bill. That's the thing about transfers and budgets. The transfer fees get all the attention (especially ridiculous when Sky insist on adding them all up together including fees that are paid with the same money received from another fee), but clubs spend the most money on wages.

I quiet like city. Play wonderful football and I do get the fact they will sell players to fund some of this spending but the hard facts are they have quiet cheap season tickets just to fill the stadium. I pretty much doubt that they have waiting lists for season tickets like Liverpool and Manchester utd do. They are, as Chelsea are, finacially doped . The figures don't add up. Being sponsored by your oil rich owners is fine but don't call it financial fair play. We were bankrolled by rich owners. Was it fair, no. We paid the penalty. Sadly the likes of Derby haven't. That's were the whole system is wrong. Its not a level playing field!!

Yep, this. It's just part of the Premiership charade where it would seem above average players command these fees and the armchair Prem fan accepts it as being normal. Absolute load of bollox, Grealish isn't worth over £99M more than Johanson just as Maquire isn't worth £79M more than Dickie. Hilarious scenes really and just can't take it remotely seriously.
