When will it ever stop? Yes there may have been some dissenting voices, as there are on here, but yet again there was as much support as you can expect tonight. Fans certainly didn’t appear overly critical during the game. Edit: full clip in other thread. The problem here is how Dale supporters are going to be viewed in the media, Radio Manchester are obviously all over it. It’ll be the Ob next. Not necessary after a heavy defeat. Hill on the radio on 16:56 - Aug 22 by electricblue | Does Hill have it in the back of his mind that his is unsackable hence the hoiler than thou ego his seems to come across within his interviews. Does the chairman seen to think that the sun shines out of Hills you know what.. For me hill as been excellent for the club but like many other managers they have a shelf life Wenger was one and it could be that hill as reached his at Dale.. But then again Dale have been down this road before and the grass isnt greener. Two words. Eyre. Coleman. Do supporters want to risk a similar manager to those two at the club. No i dont think so..... |
Whilst not wishing Hill to go, the spectre of Eyre and Coleman shouldn’t worry the club, plenty of choice out there

Nobody is saying they want hill out. Why he is continually insinuating otherwise is beyond me. Feel good factor of staying up by the skin of our teeth is gone and the realisation that we are in for another season of bitter Mourinho has set in.

That is what I got from the interview. Also on the bit about people who don't respect him, I think that relates to Harrison taking free kicks and substituting Josh. I believe he was saying, do fans really think that low of him, that he would select a free kick taker who had been rubbish in training and would substitute the keeper at 3-0 down without good reason.

Hill on the radio on 17:17 - Aug 22 by kiwidale | This is just an opinion if you disagree that's fine just leave the name calling out its not necessary. If Hill was to go he would leave the club in the best shape its ever been in and his legacy would be the best manager we have ever had there is no question about that. The comment about Wenger is apt his legacy at Arsenal was tarnished he should have left before the fans called for him to be sacked. I lean towards the view that Hill has over achieved at Rochdale his talents maybe best suited to a club with better resources who can match his ambition the only thing that can stop him is his ego. edit the first bit was not directed at you EB [Post edited 22 Aug 2018 17:20]

Just like at Barnsley,it showed what he can/can't do at a club with bigger resources and sometimes a certain manager is only suited to 1 club that may well be the case. If he genuinely had a better offer elsewhere and believed he could do better for himself and up his own value he would have jumped ship a good while ago, why do that when he's nice and comfy at Rochdale with a chairman who's only real want is to remain in league 1.

There were plenty of baffled posts on here after the Fleetwood game about unexplainable substitutions. The manger has created this.

There is little doubt in my mind and certainly not in Keith's mind that he is Mr Rochdale football club. He would never find another club that would allow him to dictate everything. This was never more apparent than the Fans Forum when the chair allowed Hill to answer every question. The directors might just as well have been sitting in the audience and Dunphy was conspicuous by his absence. The fact we are even in Div 1 is an achievement in itself anything more is a pipe dream the club would need a level of investment that is unaffordable and unsustainable again its just an opinion.

Dunphy wasn't 'conspicuous by his absence'; he was away on pre-arranged business, as was explained at the time.

His frustration is he cannot control the fans like he controls the board. He would feel at home managing the North Korean football team. Others on here have presented alternative explanations to the two incidents from the game he is moaning about. He doesnt have the capacity to consider alternative explanations. He seems to believe he can get inside peoples minds and read their motivations. Sorry Keith, like most people your skill set does have boundaries....stick to football management....something you seem to be good at....leave the psychology and particularly the marketing to thise with some training.
Hill on the radio on 01:05 - Aug 23 with 2141 views | Sandyman | "I've made sacrifices for this job and I really enjoy doing this job with this group of players, for the chairman, Bill Goodwin and the rest of the board of directors, and all that work here." Supporters don't get a mention in the "likes" part of this job. Rather than asking us to phone the Chairman, perhaps a preferable alternative would be for him to ask us fans not to turn up, as we are ALL clearly spoiling his job for him?
Hill on the radio on 08:01 - Aug 23 with 2020 views | RooleyMoorBlue | It doesn`t help when the club media are under his (Hill`s) control and only ask questions which he is prepared to answer. Even then he was so angry he could barely get his words out and his remark about getting the sack was both pathetic and uncalled for. Fans 100yds away from Lillis, including myself, didn`t realise he had an injury until he reached the touchline and held his side. Fot that reason a few decided to voice their feelings. As for the freekick debacle, there is no excuse for the poor quality of ALL freekicks, corners and throw ins. It isn`t just the one game, it is week in week out and has been for years, especially the throw ins, where we so easily lose possession. Inability to do the basics infuriate fans more than the lack of goal attempts. As a former player and defender, surely Hill should instill into defenders that the way to defend is to attack the ball and not wait for it to reach them. How many more goals must we concede from crosses before he realises this?

I agree with most of what you say, but, when expressing surprise that Hill can't seem to improve our defending, bear in mind that he wasn't that good a defender himself.

That's harsh. He's exactly the sort of central defender we could do with at the moment.

Harsh, maybe, so I'll just say he doesn't seem to be so good at coaching defensive play/players.

I wouldn't disagree, although you could argue it the other way and ask how a central defender has been able to identify, attract and improve players like Le Fondre, O'Grady, Hogan, Henderson, NML, Lund, Perkins, etc. My point is that playing abilities don't always translate to management abilities. People like Bobby Charlton were great players, but failed as a manager. (Not that Hill has failed before anyone misinterprets this).
