Most pleasing for me is that we had a clear game plan and it was obvious that every player knew exactly what they were meant to be doing. Right from kick off our work rate was spot on.
First time I've seen Dooley play and I was very impressed. He's the kinda player I thought we'd seen the last of in a Keith Hill side. So good to see a player that you know is going to cause the opposition defenders trouble. Hart was also brilliant and my man of the match.

Anybody got a clue what the penalty was for?
Couldn’t see anything from t’other end.
Moore Magahey Hart Dooney
All above played well today, not that anybody had a bad game.
Brendan came running off his line for the cross which was aimed for the edge of the penalty area, got a touch but not enough for a clean catch and clobbered into one/two of their forwards who went to ground......could have gone either way.

I said in a previous thread that I would like Keith to decide on his best centre half pairing and stick with them for a minimum of 6 games, we are half way.
Many posters have been calling for Cannon to start, and I am a fan of his. Wonder what the views are now after a good winning performance and a clean sheet?
As a team we haven’t hit our straps yet this season. I hope we can now put a little run together, the fixtures give us every chance.

Alot of positive comments about the defence on here but for me that clean sheet was a team one and it's the best defending from the front I've seen from a Dale side so far this season. The front 5 pressed and pressed all game and it was brilliant to see against a Charlton side hell bent on playing out from the back. Our shape without the ball wasn't perfect but it was better than it has been. What's the chances of sticking with the same 11 for the next game? ðŸ˜
I wouldnt put money on it.

On the fence until Xmas now
You didn't get on the fence overnight Blackdog nor will you climb down because of one win but now is not the time to be anything other than celebrating a cracking win against a fancied team a clean sheet, top goalscorer in the division. I hope as Im sure most do that Hill is the man to take us forward.
This is not the time for bickering.

Here's a quote from their board: "The sad fact is that we were up against one of the worst defences in L1 and we couldn't breach it. I'll also bet that those Rochdale players are on pittance wages compared with our lot, but in terms of heart, passion, organisation and determination, they put us to shame."

Or for a player some wanted to get shut of when his form dipped a bit!

Don't let the truth get in the way of a post... nobody has ever wanted rid of Henderson any criticism was brought about because of his petulance and sending offs. Henderson is great player even from my armchair I hope his next goal is at home fitting that he should get a standing ovation even from a tap in.
This is not the time for bickering.

And I think his next goal brings up the century?
To have 10 league goals to his name in October is sensational, even more so when you consider that we’re hardly firing on all cylinders. It’s crazy that the older he gets the more essential to the team he becomes, and after almost 6 great years with us he’s on his way to his highest goalscoring season.

Highest scoring fullback we've had then.
Reckon he might have to get a few to beat Stan Milburn's average of a goal every 9 games over 6 seasons with us. Alright accept he took penalties and played the odd game at centre forward but those were the days when a fullback had a nose bleed if they ever crossed the halfway line

Some final thoughts now that the dust has settled:
Hart is a real find. Strange to think that we had him towards the run-in at the end of last season but that he scarcely featured.
McGahey was perhaps our best signing of the summer
Raff looks more comfortable as part of a four rather as a wingback.
And after the previous criticism of substitutions I thought that the introduction of Andrew and Perkins was perfectly timed. That was exactly what I thought we signed the latter for, game management in tight games.
What is the attitude of parent clubs towards loanees who don't play? I'm sure that Fulham and Forest will have members of their coaching staff monitoring how Norman and Clough are doing.
And finally, what sort of impact could Dooley have had if the lad had had a decent preseason and hit the ground running in August? he could be our secret in the second half of the season.

I was amazed that Perkins was booed by some in the main stand when he came on. In the lead against Charlton and some folk still can't give their support during the game

Agree - don't understand how criticising players during a game will improve anything but I'd suspect it was criticism of who Hill was substituting rather than of the player coming on.

Or, that it wasn't Cannon coming on?
Oddly enough (given my previous posts) i thought Cannon would've been the better option, although he eventually made an appearance. We needed fresh energy in midfield after Camps and Rathbone had run themselves ragged, but i also agree that some fans seem to be developing an anti-Perkins stance, which is unbelievable
Who knows why they did it, perhaps if they post on here they could explain? It is not going to help whatever the reason. I've never booed a Dale player and never will.

Must have been very quiet booing as I didn’t hear it in the Sandy . I’m not his biggest fan but thought he played well
