avatar avatar avatar whine bitch moan.......seriously, apart from this I have no complaints, asuming that others are complaining about the 'real' things and that they will be addressed/sorted in due course, although I would like to remain on the thread in which I have just posted, rather than be flung out into the wide blue yonder(or 'the lobby' as someone else said). |

simply click this icon
In the bottom right hand corner of one of their posts
List of ignored can be viewed through settings and people removed from list if you want to see their posts again |  | | |

Your guess is as good as mine. I accidentally ignored natterjack and now I can't remove him from the ignore list. When I click the red cross the page just turns white but he's still on the list
Also search function kicks you back to the forum index page instead of displaying results and avatars don't actually update when you try to change them. Doesn't seem like it was tested before going live [Post edited 1 Aug 2013 10:46]

To make it look like the old forum you need to:
Press Settings -> Forum Settings -> View Mode = Table Mode Collapsed View. |
Isn't the forum set up show it in "Table Mode Collapsed View" by default, if you haven't changed any settings?
If not it should, as this is the only useful setting out of the 4 and the one that is most similar to the old forum and any other useful forum for that matter. [Post edited 1 Aug 2013 11:40]

I am sorry but I misread the post you were replying to and thought therefore you were saying you had no idea how to ignore someone. So thought after you had pressed the ignore button in error you were pressing it again to try and reinstate them. You mentioned the ignore list so unsure if you were doing the right thing. It seemed to me that this would not be clear to anyone trying to correct errors. However this is only because I misread the initial post.

How do you look at previous pages in a board? — clicking the “Next” or “2” at the bottom of this board, takes me back to the forum index page |
I have figured out what the problem is.
If you click page 2 of this sub-forum it links to this page:
http://planetswans.fansnetwork.co.uk/forum/page:2
But in reality it should have linked to this page instead:
http://planetswans.fansnetwork.co.uk/forum/category:8/page:2
So the sub-forum info is missing from links. In this case "/category:8" for this "Football Only Board" sub-forum or "/category:9" for the "Tickets, travel and pubs" sub-forum and so forth.
It think it will be a fairly easy to correct this error. | |

Some comments on the new site. I think the presentation is important to address as it is putting people off but usability seems big concern to others (unread post functionality / search). Things that are not working that can be fixed quickly (paging through forum index / ignored list removal / navigation etc.) are making the site unworkable to some extent so be great if these could be fixed quickly.
Too black and white.
Harshness of presentation seriously detracts from usability. Board and Forum index pages especially. (But a standard style needs to run throughout)
Individual items in the lists run into each other instead of being instantly clearly demarked. This gives an instant poor impression to the site and makes it much harder to use and puts people off.
e.g. Look at presentation on not666 site http://www.not606.com/forumdisplay.php/55-Swansea-City Not suggesting this as perfect layout but it presents a calm clearly laid out format that does not offend your eyes or require work to pick one item from another. The muted used of colour aids this.
A nice touch to limit text overload on the index page — is the use of small text boxes that instantly appear when you hover on the link to any forum. These let you read several lines of the op without actually going into the individual thread.
Note the single clearly defined reply to thread button at the top and bottom of each page of the thread and the reply with quote button on the bottom right of each post
note: This site does not seem to have the same sophisticated structure as ours with separate boards or forums, it just appears to be one long forum with individual threads. Also (according to one post) has no search facility beyond looking at what individual users have posted (similar to this one now)
Other main problems.
Navigation not taking you to logical places on post for example or ability to return to forum index
Some pages inaccessible (link to pages beyond the 1st page on index of threads within forum).
Remove member from ignored list not working
Some are having problems with uploading Avatars
Inability to automatically dip into a forum where you left off. Be advised of unread posts etc.
Lack of Search facility
General formatting — action buttons to right — avatars to left etc (to follow natural reading pattern)
Standardised style and standard use of terms eg Board Forum Thread Post
Appropriate placing and naming of action buttons
Inability to use any formatting/colour/highlighting within post text
Inability to quote multiple levels or reply to parts of post or highlight
Inability to delete or change quoted post when editing your own post

and if I replace the #1035 with /page:2 or whatever other page I want to view and press enter it works
Same with other forums replace # and numbers after as above
