It’s easy to read the last message added by clicking the “last post” link. Also, multi page threads can be jumped to specific pages.

More than likely. If you can tell me how it works. So, it’s more than a certain number of replies, in date order?

It should go back to a more intuitive page, but I don’t think a page that says “your reply has been successful” is a bit naff.

Suppose to save confusion we should use standard terminology
I would have thought Board / Thread / Post should be used as a standard
As the title calls it a thread (and this I think is common usage) it is confusing to call the button "Add to topic"
And as each item is commonly referred to as a post then calling the other button "Reply to this message" adds to confusion
Somthing like "Add New Post" / "Reply to This Post" (or similar) would be clearer (although quotation symbols on reply button give a good indication of what it does). What I suggest is probably the same as the old site (cannot currently check)
Another confusion is that all the buttons appear on each post
Whilst "Reply to this post" button should obviously appear on each post
The "Add new post" is something that relates to the whole thread (not linked to individual posts).
Again the old site dealt with this I think by having the "Add new post" button at the end of each page (which I thought worked quite well). Having it on each post I think just causes confusion between the buttons.

Forum was going really slow for me a little earlier and then seemed to freeze up totally and fall over. Think it was the forum not the network as everything else I was working on was fine.

Can you reply to part of a previous post, and not include the whole post again?
I don’t have any issues with the look of the new site, but would certainly like the ability to be able to pick up a thread from where I last left it.
Going back to the same forum after reading/posting, and not the index page would be better too. | |

Just wanted to point our three little cosmetic issues I have come across not trying to critique your work just help improve. 
1) At the bottom / top of the old page we had a button to go back to the parent thread or "Football Only Board" now you cant do that only go back to the main forum list and then go back into the "Football Only Board" a pain as you need to click twice not once. I am using Firefox as my browser.
2) The pitch background picture does not rescale to the webpage size and it should be made a bit more transparent as you cant see the menu options that clearly.
3) When using my android to view the pages where a post is a reply to a post "It includes the previous comments" the boxes where that test is is drifting off to the left rather then staying in the center if the screen is zoomed in. |  | | |

Yes, but that will just jump to the last post, not the first post since you last read the thread — if a thread has say 4 pages when you last read it, and 7 pages when you next read it, you don’t want to jump to the last post, and don’t really want to try and remember what page/post you last read, to continue from there. |

Hi Phil,
First off congrats on the new site - compared to the first preview a lot of time has gone in to it. Let me give you some constructive criticism:
1) Add a mobile template/mode that auto-detects mobile browsers and removes the background and make the forum much more accessible.
2) The Layout of the text/stories on the frontpage doesn't look good - there is too much text on text
3) Why does Fans Network not have an API so you could use custom software but auth with Fans Network - that way you'd get best of both worlds ;)
4) The overall layout/'feel' is that this site is quite old, I don't know if this is what you were going for or if it's a FN limitation but none the less it's something you should fix as the premier (unofficial) Swans site :) |  |

I'll add a little more:
I've 'circled' the areas that are problematic and this is just the 'Post a reply' page (accessed via a 'Add to topic' - settle on a single terminology).
The PS logo is horribly jagged/low quality and it should have the same background semi-transparency as the menu text (which is horribly crammed - why not dynamically adjust the spacing based on the available space in the semi transparent background).
The 'Add reply' button should be aligned at the right side of the Post textbox - it's the proper way fore UIs. Also why have Show/hide smileys on a separate line - move the button and they can be on the same line.
The Title and Post textboxes aren't aligned
There is a big white blob on the right side of Title and Post textboxes before the ad.
The add is actually breaking the layout - adds the white blob below your post in my reply (also I can't see what I'm replying to unless I quote?).
The Ad is streching the layout so much that the footer text goes below the background and onto another big white blob.

On forum index page it is showing last post on football forum as Swanny replying to this thread at 07:43 but there have been other posts on the football only forum since then as it is now 09:16, so Swanny's post is not the last post.
Edit. After I replied to this thread mine was the last post on index page so I wonder if the software is showing any added replies to this thread as the last post even though replies to other threads may have been made after this [Post edited 31 Jul 2013 9:20]

As much as I am sure we will get used to it, I have to say the format of this forum is poor. No amount of changing of views in the settings will fix that. I have used forums hosted by multiple providers and all have been better than this. Most of the forums I have seen appear to be using the phpBB software which is very easy to use. The Royals forum, Anus's all have this format and it is very easy to ready (ok the content may be shit).
Would I be right in assuming that one of the reasons for choosing FansNetwork was due to the additional features e.g Ground guide etc? If so, as nice as those features are, my interest is primarily in the forum and I suspect the same can be said for most people on here.
One final point - The advertising on here is overpowering - I appreciate you need to get an income to maintain the site but does it really need to be at this level? | | | |
