LOL, you're more delusional than Ned. At least he was hopeful of a 0-0 draw. You're suggesting that this pile of steaming poo that we call a team would go on to win a game in which they had 29% possession and contributed zero shots? This same team that has now lost 5 on the spin, has no wins in 8, and clocked up a goal difference of -15, would take the game by the scruff of the neck and grab a win? Pal, I want whatever you've been drinking.

Can we get this clear. Nowhere did I suggest that Willock was anywhere near the player Taarabt was. What I implied was that IF Warnock came back he would identify Willock as that type of creative player that he didn't want tracking back, give the ball to him and would do the most damage in the opposition's defending third. If anyone can get a tune out of him again, I think he would.

I bet you weren't complaining about the 19% possession at Burnley or 20% possession at Stoke last April! Don't get me wrong Gareth should of gone after Blackburn but looking at tonight's game in isolation then yes we had every chance of picking up a point, and who knows three, before the penalty and especially the sending off irrespective of the amount of possession we had or the amount of possession that Blackburn had around the centre circle.
BIT LATE...wba match thread... on 23:33 - Oct 24 with 2239 views | davman | He's not going anywhere is he? Absent owners; waiting for relegation to up sticks. Another season to be wished away. Absolutely would have been best already to have gone down last season - don't care what anyone says, another season of L after L will break this club. Shambolic.

You're reaching. Anyone can try to imagine what might have been or cherry pick isolated examples to support a weak argument. I prefer to focus on what actually happened and the broader picture of Ainsworth's tenure. With that in mind, here are the facts. We're in the bottom 3, already 4 points adrift of safety. Prior to tonight's match we'd lost 4 on the spin and haven't won since 2nd September. Tonight we had zero shots on target and conceded a stonewall penalty. To try and pretend that somehow penalties don't count and we could have nicked a result (in spite of horrendous form) is frankly disingenuous, delusional, and desperate. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yes, I was imagining a point before the penalty and red card whilst you were imagining a defeat. We have different opinions or guesses in this case. I gave examples of where we have picked up points recently despite low possession whilst you`gave some statistics not necessarily relevant to tonight’s game in isolation.
BIT LATE...wba match thread... on 06:47 - Oct 25 with 1799 views | kernowhoop | A confession - following a string of defeats, if I had been in GA's shoes ahead of last night's match, I would have set the team up to frustrate WBA, in the hope that we could get a point, stop the rot and gain a little bit of confidence to build on. What else could he do? At half-time, I said to my wife 'It's nil-nil, it's awful, but it's an improvement.' I knew that, if the plan went wrong and WBA scored, there would be no way back, but they did not look particularly threatening. It was all down to that penalty and the madness that followed. Unfortunately, that explains only last night's result, not the previous performances that have dumped us in the bottom three.

Willock has to take some of the blame. I know he has had a bad injury, but he used to be our best player. Now, the effort and desire just aren't there and consequently, he hasn't made a meaningful contribution for twelve months. This team is so awful that we can't give him a run of games. We just don't have the quality to risk him, or anyone else, being a passenger for n games. Sadly...

Gareth also knows what goes on in training and if he's seen more from Smyth or Kolli than Willock in training then that really is on Willock. What gets me is the 12 months of poor performances for 2 different managers yet we still have people asking for him to come on as he's our "best player". Yeah maybe 2022 Willock but if you've got a time machine then maybe put 2003 Ainsworth on the pitch too. I'm not sure if Willock will ever get back to that level of performance and maybe changing the manager would help but I still have Coventry at home last season in my head. Pass to the opposition, no attempt to track back, doesn't want to put in the effort or do the basics.

No. 451, very low block. No attempt to retain possession, build an attack, or get anyone up in support of Dykes. It was unbelievable grim. Unacceptably so. It wasn’t Man City. It was a bang average West Brom side. And I really don’t think it was the players last night. That sounds mad given it was a pen and red card for stupidity that cost us. But up until then, the players kept their shape and worked hard. It was the shape they were set up in and the instructions they were following that was the issue. Ainsworth admitted it post match that “the plan” was working. If that was “the plan”, he’s lost me. It was such a step back from Birmingham away, let alone Boro away, Cardiff away, and Ipswich home. He should be building on those from an attacking perspective not reverting to 10 men behind the ball and 1 shot in 90 mins!
