Hasenhuttl's Assistant Leaves Club Wednesday, 31st Jul 2019 08:35 Ralph Hasenhuttl's assistant Danny Rohl has left Southampton FC on the eve of the season, although this has not been unexpected within the club.
Rohl joined Saints after working with Hasenhuttl at RB Leipzig, but his tenure in England has lasted less than 8 months with the news of his departure.
The circumstances surrounding the announcement are clouded, but TUI was aware that Rohl did not travel to the training camp in Austria and their were rumours back then of a bust up between Ralph and his assistant.
When we learn't of the rumour we chose not to publish back then as it seemed to serve no purpose as apart from the fact that Rohl was not with the squad, then as now we do not know the true reasons behind the situation.
The Daily Echo reports
" that Hasenhuttl will not be looking for a replacement with the manager prepared to be front and centre on his own with his new look coaching line-up providing all the support he feels he needs."
Although this was not unexpected as mentioned in the opening paragraph of this story, the situation seems to have occurred in early July as Hasenhuttl confirmed Rohl would continue as his assistant in the new coaching set-up which was formally released by the club on July 1.
Whether the pair have had a bust up as TUI was told a few weeks back or that there is some other reason personal to Rohl is unclear, indeed it could be that in not appointing a new assistant Hasenhuttl is leaving it open for Rohl to return at some point.

As good a player as SRL is, he has no qualifications to be on the coaching staff, so why would we give him a job ? I dont think he wants the day to day involvement in football anyway, he is happy living in Liverpool and being a club ambassador and that is the right role for him

Has Kelvin Davis got any qualifications?

We've had our differences of opinion in the past Nick in that I've suggested that you too often "tow the party line" being sometimes used as the club's mouthpiece. However, on this one I think that you were quite correct in not publishing what you knew.It could well be a personal health or family problem causing the departure of Rohl in which case the man is entitled to privacy just like the rest of us. On a completely different subject. Has anyone received their season tickets yet or for that matter their new kit?

To our Thai friend - SRL is our legendary striker Rickie Lambert who received an honorary knighthood for services to our club. :)

saintmark1976, season tckts were starting to be posted out from Monday gone. As for the shambles of the new kit, I had the following response emailed to me last week “we are hoping to have an update in the next 2 weeks, as of yet we have not had any updates†which leaves the club in the potentially embarrassing situation of not being able to provide supporters with shirts for the start of the season, and maybe even the 1st home game as well! This really does leave a bad taste because I always pre-order 1 adult (sometimes 2) shirt & 2 kids shirts, so not a small amount of money that could be sat in my bank account earning interest, & the kids ones are nearly always late year after year anyway. Suffice to say this years debacle is the final straw for me and considering I never wear a new shirt until the 1st game of the season anyway, I will no longer be pre-ordering any shirts because there’s no benefit in doing so.

Hahaha, how much interest do you calculate you would earn newburysaint?
NewburySaint added 08:12 - Aug 1
Aahhh El Santo, that came out of an account earning 1.25%! I bet Saints have it in a higher interest account than mine though.... The point being SFC (& I know this isn’t directly their fault) have failed on the golden rule of “under promise, over deliver†& when you actually “over promise, under deliver†it puts customers off. I assume it’s a manufacturers mistake in the first but, as I mentioned in my previous post, it does happen year after year with at least 1 part of the kit.

Response from the club re:kits this morning Unfortunately, the kit is still delayed and we do not have a date for release. We are hoping to receive an update in the upcoming weeks, this will hopefully be good news and be able to dispatch orders. We apologise for any inconveniences caused. If you require a refund/cancellation of your order, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Captainla Thank you for letting me know who SRL is ... I’m an Englishman working in Koh Samui but live in Bournemouth ( The noisy neighbours ) But always been a life long Saints fan ... And flew back just to watch Southampton v Manchester United in the FA cup that we won but didn’t get the trophy .. And I have Ricky Lambert’s signed shirt hanging in my lounge next to Adam Lallana’s ... Let’s hope we have a great season ( and why doesn’t Rhalp take Gary Cahill on a free ) #COYS

I agree that Gary Cahill could do a decent job. But his wages...?
SaintBrock added 14:20 - Aug 2
This thread has become utterly ridiculous, Nick starts a thread on Danny Röhl's exit and we end up talking about everything except Danny Röhl? Danny Röhl departure cannot be good news for whatever reason he has left. PS why are we back with an endless stream of junk adverts attached to each article see below and why doesn't my suite od ad blockers allow them in?

KRiSaints Gary Cahill obviously has a decent bank balance and at his age it shouldn’t nesseseraly be about earning the same wages as he has earns at Chelsea ... maybe we should look at an average wage packet and pay per related performance bonus .. the better he does for the club ...IE clean sheets , organisation of the defence , the more he can improve the team with his experience the more the club would reward him ... If he sorted out our defence and became a team leader and got us back into Europe .. then he would get more enjoyment and satisfaction long term than adding a couple of £00’s to his weekly wages .. surely we didn’t pay Kevin Keegan or Peter Shilton the wages they could of earns at other clubs at the time ...( And they were signed whilst being full England internationals ... some players need to give something back to the game that means more than money ... Matt LeTiss will be remembered forever for what he gave the game of football and to Southampton FC ... It’s surely not all about the money is it ...( Olly )

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Burnley Polls |
