So I’ve based myself in Algeria and it’s made no difference to flight prices

I heading to Texas againon 31st Oct, I used sky scanner and found the same flight that AA wanted £920 for, for £825. It took me to another site, they’re like a broker and it all seemed legit but I didn’t risk it. I thought if rather pay the £95 extra and be safe booking direct. But sky scanner seems legit |  | | |

The wife is obsessed with searching for flights, and swears by using incognito mode for it.
(I think she might be using incognito mode for other things but can't prove anything so far.)
I have seen one or more examples where her lowest price on Skyscanner was actually lower than the options I was getting without incognito. So there may be something in it.
But we still always book with airline directly - just use Skyscanner to find who's got it the cheapest. [Post edited 17 Oct 12:35]

There are some specific examples where a VPN can work. For instance a few years ago, I was booking some internal flights in Peru. They were all over $100 until I changed my location to Peru and they were as low as $20. I found out it was nothing to do with any kind of residents discount or anything, they were just much cheaper.
Otherwise the best way to get cheap flights is to be very flexible with your dates I find! |  |

I've tried many times to use VPN to get cheaper flights but it never seems to work for me. Always seems to be the exact same price no matter what country I check.
But yes as someone else said, if you are not looking at booking the flight right away use incognito mode. Apparently it helps with not raising the prices before you decide to then buy. | | | |

I had a long spell where I went East Midlands to Dublin on a regular basis. It was always cheaper to book from Dublin, about 6 weeks in advance, rather than UK. Equivalent prices but one was in £ and the other in €. |  |
