Caulker Returns To QPR To Join Liverpool Tuesday, 12th Jan 2016 13:23 Steven Caulker has been rleased from his loan spell at Southampton and will temporarily rejoin QPR before his expected move to Liverpool.
Steven Caulker will be a Liverpool player in the next few hours after returning to parent club QPR so that he can complete a loan move to Liverpool.
Usually Liverpool prefer to take our players directly but this time they have to go round the block a ittle.
Caulker when he joined Saints looked a good signing, however from the start it seemed that Ronald Koeman was not impressed despite the fact that when he did play in the main he looked good and he cetainly had the experience.
But Ronald Koeman seemed to prefer Yoshida despite the Japanese defender being error prone in many of the games he played and Caulkers opportunities were very limited suggesting that it was something more than just his performances on the field that were affecting his selection.
Good luck to Steven Caulker, he was far from being the worst player to play for Southampton Football Club either in this season or any other, things didn't work out for him here, but think he will enjoy a long career in the Premier League going forward.

What a bizarre move. What's more hilarious is Caulker probably had his worst game against Liverpool when Sturridge made him look like a schoolboy defender and yet they're still interested. I hope he gets plenty of game time..

Amazing that Liverpool want to sign Caulker after his performance in the 1-6! In my view Caulker and Yoshi are on a par - Yoshida is more error-prone but better positionally and better on the ball

People are very harsh on Caulker but his record isnt that bad Vitesse at home clan sheet Midjtland home 1 goal conceded a long range effort Watford a clean sheet midjytland a 1 goal conceded Villa league cup h 1 goal conceded a last minute penalty not conceded by caulker Sunderland a clean sheet as 89th min sub Man City a 55 mins as sub wih team 2-0 down 1 goal conceded in that time Liverpool h 6-1 was he any worse than anyone else that night ? So the popularist view is that Caulker was awful, take out the Liverpool game and he probably has the best ratio of minutes on ptch against goals conceded than any of our defenders, liverpool aside 5 starts 3 goals conceded and one of them a penalty.

Ron clearly wasn't over impressed and the Liverpool performance obviously did for him. The Yoshido or Caulker debate (now irrelevent of course) has only one answer and that is: NEITHER.

Didn't think he was bad for us in the great scheme of things, if we were converting shots taken into goals he wouldn't have received the negative focus he has. Our problems are more in front of our opponents goal than at the back. Long periods of possession amounting to nothing and then losing by the odd goal. I wish Caulker all the best.

Undoubtedly odd. So, did we not get the best out of him and Liverpool have seen something that clearly we have not, or are they making a big mistake?

I think RK prefers Yosh because he's good on the ball (when he's not giving it to the other team!!). Caulker only has long ball

Wohoooo, our defense improves, hope he gets as much game time as possible. I just hope he is note the anti-Lovren.

He was only brought in as a back up, in case we failed to get VvD and to help out in the early rounds of the Europa. He was truely awful against Liverpool and would not have even got in my Sunday Veterans League team that night and that, I think, was the performance that told Ron he was not wanted. Add to that, his off field antics and the fact that Gardos is back in training and Caulker is 5th or 6th choice centre back and definitely surplous to requirements.

I'm wondering now whether he had already agreed to go to Liverpool before they thrashed us.........

Have I been asleep since New Year's Day only to wake up on April the first? It does make you wonder Alehouse does it not?

I don't think Caulker was all that bad. Good in the air, strong in the tackle - maybe a little slow around the park. Maybe Liverpool will come back in with a big offer for JWP before the window closes!

I fully agree with perazi. Lets all hope Liverpool come back and get JWP.

What's a bit surprising about this is, that RK stated two weeks ago that he has no Intention of letting him go... Maybe he just didn't want to stand in Caulker's way now, but ultimately it says if if he seems to be very straightfoward and honest, you can't always rely on what he says... But well, we won't miss him - and from the original timeline Gardos should be nearing his comeback, though I didn't hear anything of it.

Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league.
