5 Things About Brighton 21:44 - Dec 1 with 1735 viewsSaintNick

1. A pint in the Laines is dearer than London, over £28 in one pub for 4 pints, they are Pretentious with a capital P.

2. The Amex has to be the worst stadium to get to, after the game finished at 10 it was 11.20 before we could get a train back to the town centre.

3. It does have decent catering in the ground, I had a really good pie.

4. Big accident on the A27 coming home at Fontwell, anyone else get caught up in it and no what happened.

5. Brighton fans dont seem to have a singing section although the atmosphere was ok

We went to Lewes, which was handy for getting back to after the game and also had some decent pubs.

Would definitely recommend for when we next play there.

I went there the last time we played them, it is a better bet than Brighton centre for convenience

2. Agree, We Stayed overnight quite a few Saints fans in our hotel. had a great night Friday with no stress due to not having to rush and a few beers in hotel bar before retiring .

5. The Atmosphere was good thanks to the saints fans . Brighton were quiet as mice. They probably expected to turn up and win.

Yeah, I got caught up in the A27 road closure at 7.00 a.m. Saturday morning on my way to Arundel. I'm still trying to work out how the Volvo XC90 managed to do that - having seen the photos.

1. Getting to Brighton for 3pm when the game was an 8pm kick off might've been a mistake, one or two too many beers were consumed.

2. The train from Brighton to Falmer was the worst organised i've seen since Brighton moved to the new ground, we actually got to the station early but still missed kick off, surely if they're going to do the trains to the ground they should have dedicated train services instead of the usual commuter lines.

3. Where the hell were all the Saints fans in Brighton? We were drinking around various pubs in the laines and barely saw a single other Saints fan. Technically this isn't a bad thing, but it's just really weird that there seemed to be none about.

4. I thought Saints were significantly better against Brighton, Martin seems to have changed his tactics slightly and the fact we're actually getting the ball forward quicker makes us look a much, much better side.

5. The vomit comet (last train) back to london was absolute carnage, the combination of day trippers, football fans and general drunks made it feel like a club that happened to be moving

I thought that as I read it. At that time of night you never know reasoning

London Saints lads always go to Lewes prematch much easier to get a train to Amex from there, Friday was the first time I’d encountered any queues for trains from there, and it’s also generally easier to get a train back too afterwards

Plus loads of good pub there

2 Trains were terrible back Saturday, Bus Replacement Service!!
3 Hardly saw any Saints fans around before the game (other than station)
4 After the game it was clear that lots had stayed the night as lots around
5 Fans stuck with the team

It was for convenience tbh. Our hotel was 100 yards from the train station and spoons just down the road . I’ve had a few in the Laines before and I did suggest to go there but others wanted to stay put.

It was up there with some of the better away games from last season.

Goal celebrations were quality, both for our allowed goal and disallowed goal.

When I see how few fans Boscombe took to Wolves on Saturday (they were put in the small corner behind the goal, as they had so few fans there), sometimes I think our support isn't so bad after all.
